NFL TD Prop Bets Today

Last Updated: Sep 5, 2024

Touchdown prop betting has become a staple for NFL bettors in recent years, as it is one of the most thrilling ways to win a wager.

There’s no better feeling than watching the player you bet on find the end zone and celebrating with them.

Whether you’re backing a star player to score or looking at a sleeper with longer odds, these bets bring an extra layer of excitement to the game.

Each week this NFL season, I’ll give out my favorite anytime TD, first TD, and multiple TD prop bets.

Let’s dig into my favorite NFL TD prop bets for Week 1.

NFL TD Prop Bets Today

NFL odds used for these Week 1 TD prop bets are current as of Thursday, Sept. 5, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Week 1 Anytime TD Props: Mike Evans (+125)

Week 1 First TD Props: Trey McBride (+1400)

Week 1 Multiple TD Props: Stefon Diggs (+1700)

Sportsbook Play of the Day

Week 1 Anytime TD Props

Mike Evans: Anytime TD (+125) vs Commanders

Evans has found the end zone in Week 1 three of the last four seasons and gets a prime matchup to make another strong start to the campaign.

Washington allowed the most passing yards in the NFL last season (272.2 per game) and the most receiving touchdowns (39). While new HC Dan Quinn’s scheme will help bring those numbers down slightly, the Commanders still lack talent in the secondary.

Evans is entering his age-31 campaign, which is usually a time I would be hesitant to buy, but his consistent production speaks for itself. He had 13 receiving touchdowns last season, nine more than any other Buccaneers target, and clearly has chemistry with Baker Mayfield.

If Mayfield gives his 6-foot-5 receiver a few chances to make plays on 50-50 balls in the red zone, Evans should capitalize at least once. Back the future Hall-of-Famer to find paydirt as one of your NFL best bets today.

Week 1 First TD Props

Trey McBride: First TD (+1400) @ Bills

With Marvin Harrison Jr. in the picture, McBride is unlikely to remain the first option for Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. However, the 6-foot-4 tight end will still get looks in the red zone.

McBride tied for the team lead with Hollywood Brown in red-zone targets last season (nine), catching six balls for 42 yards and two touchdowns. He had three TDs in total on the year, one of which was the first score in the game.

Arizona’s offense is likely to take a step forward this season with the addition of Harrison Jr. and a healthy Murray. I like the Cardinals to get off to a fast start against a Buffalo team that is replacing both starting safeties from a season ago.

Look for Murray to test Damar Hamlin and Taylor Rapp early, giving McBride a decent chance to overcome these long odds.

Week 1 Multiple TD Props

Stefon Diggs: 2+ TDs (+1700) @ Colts

Predicting multiple TD player props is challenging, especially when we don’t have any recent data to work from, so don’t go overboard on this one.

With that in mind, I think reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud will target Stefon Diggs a lot on Sunday in Indianapolis.

Houston made an offseason trade for the former Bills wide receiver, who was frustrated by his lack of targets during the second half of his final season in Buffalo. Diggs failed to cross the 100-yard mark after Week 6 and was held out of the end zone in his final seven games (including the playoffs).

If Stroud wants to keep his new target happy, he’ll get Diggs a Week 1 touchdown. And if we’re lucky, he’ll get two against a Colts defense that sits in Cover 3 most of the time.

How NFL Anytime TD Prop Betting Works

When wagering on NFL touchdown props, you can pick a player to score a touchdown in the following ways:

  • Anytime Touchdown: Choose a player to score a touchdown at any point in the game.
  • First Touchdown: Your selection needs to score the game’s first touchdown.
  • Last Touchdown: The play has to score the game’s final touchdown.
  • Multiple Touchdowns: You can pick a player to score 2+ or 3+ touchdowns.

Some betting sites may offer “Next Touchdown" props as a live bet. This is where you choose which player scores the game’s next touchdown.

Each of these props has various odds. A player with a higher implied probability of scoring a touchdown will have shorter odds.

Choosing “First," “Next," “Last," or “Multiple" touchdown props will have larger payouts because they’re less likely to happen.

One important note about touchdown props: This does not include passing touchdowns if you choose a quarterback. You would need your quarterback to find the end zone with a rushing touchdown or a rare receiving score on a trick play.

NFL bets can also be made on other player props, such as receiving yards or total interceptions.

How to Pick the Best NFL Anytime TD Prop Betting Sites

Here’s what you need to look for when choosing the best NFL touchdown prop betting sites:

  • The site should feature every type of touchdown bet, including multiple scores.
  • There must be several players to choose from rather than just the stars.
  • The sportsbook should have promotions that cater to touchdown props.
  • There should be odds boosts for players to score a touchdown.
  • The odds should align with the rest of the market.
  • The platform should be user-friendly with a generous welcome bonus.

Best Anytime TD Prop Bets

These are the best touchdown prop bets to target:

  • Anytime Touchdown: It’s hard enough to pick a player to score a touchdown, so you don’t need to make it even more difficult by specifying whether it’s the first or last score of the game. Please keep it simple and stick to anytime touchdown props.
  • Multiple Touchdowns: If you want to shoot for the moon, you can take a player who gets a lot of red-zone usage to score more than one touchdown. A good example of this is Derrick Henry. Be sure to put less money on this bet than your anytime selection.

I suggest avoiding first or last touchdown bets because they can be random.

Anytime TD Betting Strategy

This is the strategy you should follow when targeting touchdown props:

  1. Choose a player on a team with a high implied team total. For example, if the Eagles are favored by four points in a game with a 50-point total, it means they have an implied total of 27 points. The more touchdowns a team scores, the better chance you hit your bet, so keep this in mind.
  2. Target a player heavily involved in the offense, especially in the red zone. You can look at a receiver’s target share or a running back’s red-zone usage to help you select. One good example is D.K. Metcalf, the main option for Seattle inside the 20-yard line.
  3. Be sure not to risk too much of your bankroll on touchdown props. Touchdowns can sometimes be random, so you’ll want to ensure you’re not too heavily invested in this market.
