Eagles vs Cowboys Predictions & Odds

Last Updated: Dec 21, 2022

The Dallas Cowboys are 10-4 but have played erratic football in their past two games. The Texans played the Cowboys close in Week 14 while Dallas conceded a halftime lead, followed by Dallas losing in overtime to the Jaguars this past Sunday.

When it comes to the Eagles, they are 13-1 and in the driver’s seat in the NFC. But a shoulder injury to Jalen Hurts could impact their ability to control their own destiny for the remaining three games of the regular season.

Let’s take a look at my Philadelphia vs Dallas best bets and NFL predictions for Week 16.

Eagles vs Cowboys Odds

All odds and lines are current as of Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 11:30 a.m. ET at Caesars Sportsbook.

The Cowboys opened as one-point favorites over the Eagles, which is to be expected since they are the home side. However, this line jumped to -5.5 favoring the Cowboys on Monday afternoon after the Hurts news.

Hurts is dealing with a sprained shoulder and is “uncertain to play" in Week 16. If Hurts indeed sits, Gardner Minshew would draw the start for Philadelphia.

Take a look at the best Eagles odds and Cowboys odds for the 2022 NFL season.

Eagles vs Cowboys Implied Totals

Cowboys 25.75, Eagles 20.25

The game total opened at 50.5 points, but it’s now down to 46 after the Hurts injury news. In a game that features two of the NFL’s best offenses and defenses, these implied totals are set on point.

Minshew is a competent backup quarterback, but he could struggle against a Dallas defense that could use a break. Getting Minshew is exactly what the Cowboys need to get back on track confidence-wise ahead of the postseason.

Eagles vs Cowboys Prediction

Cowboys 27, Eagles 20

Injuries have finally caught up to both the Eagles and the Cowboys. Both teams have managed to weather the storm on the injury front for most of the year, but that is no longer the case entering Week 16.

Key starters and contributors including Terence Steele, Leighton Vander Esch, Anthony Brown, and Johnathan Hankins are all out for Dallas. Meanwhile, Donovan Wilson and Demarcus Lawrence are both day-to-day.

Outside of Steele, the aforementioned players are all on the defensive side of the football, which explains why the team has struggled to stop anything in the past two games.

On the other side, the Eagles have had defensive injury woes of their own in the second half of the season, but in last week’s win over the Bears, Philadelphia suffered its gravest blow in the form of Jalen Hurts.

Hurts is not yet ruled out, but the expectation is that he will sit in Dallas due to his ailing shoulder.

The Eagles defeated the Cooper Rush-led Cowboys earlier this season. However, that was an Eagles team fully healthy, especially at quarterback while playing at home. The second stanza will not be as easy.

Dak Prescott is back for the Cowboys and so is his 7-3 career record against the Eagles. Prescott has beaten the Eagles in six of his past seven games against them, including two straight.

Eagles vs Cowboys Best Bets

Cowboys -5.5 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

The Cowboys are in need of a get-right game. As crazy as it sounds, it could come against the Eagles, the team with the best record in the NFL.

With Jalen Hurts trending toward the wrong side of an active designation, Dallas will get a quarterback that rarely sees the field.

Furthermore, the Cowboys have won seven of their past 10 games against the Eagles, covering the spread in all of those wins, including in three of their past four.

Over 46 Points (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

Both the Eagles and Cowboys can score points. However, while they do employ two of the best defenses in the NFL, that side of the ball has shown signs of wear and tear for both sides.

The Over is 7-2 in the past nine games the Eagles have played. It is also 6-1 in Dallas’ past seven games as well, hitting in four straight. The Over is also 4-0 in the past four games between the Eagles and the Cowboys.
