After missing nearly half of the 2023 campaign, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is set to make his return for Week 1 in a matchup with the new-look New England Patriots.
These two teams come into the NFL season with wildly different expectations. The Bengals will be looking to compete for a Super Bowl title after failing to reach the playoffs last season, while the Patriots will be focused on developing rookie quarterback Drake Maye.

Patriots vs Bengals Prediction
Bengals 27, Patriots 13
Jacoby Brissett is set to start for New England at quarterback, but whether it was him or Drake Maye, it was always going to be difficult to envision the Patriots accomplishing much on the road in Week 1.
This offense is as rough as they come, and while Cincinnati doesn’t offer much in terms of resistance, it should have no problem producing a takeaway or two. Fortunately for the Patriots, their defense should continue to thrive under new head coach Jerod Mayo.
This game might be close at halftime, but I fully expect the Bengals to put New England away once they get in rhythm. Burrow still has Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins at his disposal, and don’t underestimate Zack Moss out of the backfield.
Sportsbook Play of the Day
Patriots vs Bengals Best Bets
Bengals -8.5 (-108) vs Patriots
The Bengals may not end up having the most productive day on offense, but they won’t necessarily need to in order to cover this 8.5-point spread at home. The Patriots will struggle to generate plays on Cincinnati’s side of the 50, let alone get in scoring position.
Look for Burrow and co. to open the year with a big win and make this your NFL bet of the day.
Under 41 Points (-110)
Cincinnati has a high-powered offense, but Burrow could need some time to shake off the rust. There’s a chance that this could end up being a relatively low-scoring performance by the Bengals, especially against New England’s stout defense.
However, even if Cincinnati finds its way into the upper-20s, I don’t have enough faith in the Patriots to push this one Over 41 combined points. The Under is the way to go.
