Syracuse vs. South Florida Betting Odds & Storylines
Spread: Syracuse -2 (-110, )
Over/Under: 56.5 (-105, )
Moneyline: Syracuse -125 (DraftKings), South Florida +115 ()
Both teams enter the Boca Raton Bowl relatively unscathed by injuries and the transfer portal. Syracuse QB Garrett Shrader is out following surgery on his shoulder.
That leaves Carlos Del Rio-Wilson as the starter under center. Rio-Wilson went 26-for-51 for 282 passing yards and a 3:6 TD:INT ratio in place of Shrader.
The Orange has more than enough defense to make up for the lack of offense. Syracuse limited opponents to 23.8 points per game.
USF averaged 455.3 total yards per game under first year head coach Alex Golesh. That was good for 17th in Division I.
Brown and Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels are the only two D-I players with 3,000-plus passing yards and 700-plus rushing yards.
RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl Best Bet
Syracuse vs. South Florida Under 56.5 Points
BetMGM Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit
The under makes more sense because of the Orange’s defense being superior to USF’s offense.
Brown has been excellent in his first full season, but the AAC Conference does not pose the same threat as the Big East.
The Bulls defense is also one of the worst tackling teams in college football and has to face a team that will be more than happy to punch them in the mouth with the run game.
Shrader and now Rio-Wilson aided the running attack, averaging 4.2 and 5.0 yards per rush, respectively.
Expect the run game and a above average secondary take the Bulls out of the game.
