My NHL goalscorer predictions were on point last week, as five of the six players I mentioned in my articles on Tuesday and Thursday found the back of the net.
Mikko Rantanen and Adrian Kempe both came through on Thursday night at +165 odds, capping off a great week of results.
It’ll be difficult for me to match that level of success moving forward, but I’ll try to keep the good run going with my best NHL goalscorer bets today.
NHL Goalscorer Predictions Today
All hockey odds used for these NHL goalscorer predictions today are current as of Monday, Nov. 24, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Mika Zibanejad: Anytime Goalscorer (+190) vs Blues
Zibanejad leads the Rangers in goals (seven) and shots (71). Of those 71 efforts on goal, 36 have come at Madison Square Garden, which is the most on the team by 10.
New York has been particularly poor on home ice this season, posting a 1-7-1 record and scoring just 13 goals in nine games.
However, the NHL’s third-lowest scoring team (2.48 goals per game) should have a chance to break out tonight against a Blues team that allows the third-most goals per game (3.64).
Back Zibanejad to help the Rangers finally get going at MSG as your NHL pick of the day.
Alex Ovechkin: First Goalscorer (+1000) vs Blue Jackets
NHL first goalscorer stats aren’t necessarily predictive, but it’s worth noting that the Capitals have scored first in a league-high 15 of 22 games this season.
However, Ovechkin has scored the first goal of a game only once, doing so last Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens as part of a hat trick in an 8-4 victory.
The NHL’s all-time leading scorer has been heating up in November, finding the back of the net six times in his last five outings.
Ovechkin scored in a 5-1 victory against Columbus on Oct. 24, and I think there’s a good chance he opens the scoring against the Blue Jackets tonight.
Adrian Kempe: Anytime Goalscorer (+160) vs Blues
For my other NHL anytime goalscorer prop, I’m going back to the well with Kings winger Adrian Kempe.
The 29-year-old Swede came through for us on Thursday, but he’s still tied for the second-fewest goals (seven) among NHL forwards with at least 70 shots. Zibanejad is another, and only Calgary’s Nazem Kadri (four goals on 77 shots) is producing less on more shots.
The Kings, like the Rangers, have struggled mightily at home, posting a 1-4-3 record and scoring just 16 goals in eight games.
However, Los Angeles is also in a breakout spot against an Ottawa Senators squad allowing 3.90 goals per game on the road this season, the fourth-most in the league.
