Monday night was ideal for NHL goalscorer predictions, as all five games featured at least five goals, with Washington’s 7-4 victory over Anaheim producing the most offense of the evening.
Let’s hope Tuesday’s 10-game slate matches that scoring level as I pick out some players to light the lamp.
Let’s dig into my best NHL goalscorer bets today.
NHL Goalscorer Predictions Today
All hockey odds used for these NHL goalscorer predictions today are current as of Tuesday, Jan. 6, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Trevor Zegras: Anytime Goalscorer (+195) vs Ducks
Who doesn’t love a revenge-game narrative?
Zegras, who spent his first five NHL seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, will face his former team for the first time since being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in June 2025.
The 24-year-old leads the Flyers with 15 goals in 40 games this season, but currently finds himself in the midst of a six-game goal drought.
What better way to snap out of that skid than a matchup against the Ducks, who allow the most goals per game in the NHL (3.64) and shipped seven last night in Washington against the Capitals.
I’m backing Zegras to light the lamp as my NHL pick of the day.
Connor McDavid: First Goalscorer (+950) vs Predators
McDavid has been on a tear since the start of December, scoring 14 goals in 16 games. Four of those tallies were Edmonton’s first of the game, and three opened the scoring in general.
The Oilers haven’t been notoriously fast starters on home ice this season, taking the lead in just eight of 18 home games. However, NHL first goalscorer stats reflect even worse on the Nashville Predators, who have scored first in four of 20 road games this season.
The Preds are on the final leg of a seven-game Western Conference road trip, while the Oilers have been home since New Year’s Eve. I’m backing the hosts to start strong on Tuesday night, with McDavid leading the way.

Macklin Celebrini: Anytime Goalscorer (+125) vs Blue Jackets
For my other NHL anytime goalscorer prop, I’m targeting emerging superstar Macklin Celebrini.
The No. 1 pick in the 2024 NHL Draft sits third in the league with 63 points and leads the Sharks with 22 goals.

Celebrini has scored in four of San Jose’s previous five contests, all of which have featured at least seven total goals.
In what should be a high-scoring game environment, I’ll back the most talented player on the ice to find the back of the net.
