Stars vs Kraken Predictions & Best Bets

Last Updated: May 15, 2023

The Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken probably did not expect to be playing in a Game 7, but here they are on the final night of the second round of the NHL Playoffs.

Will Dallas win as expected or can Seattle pull off another Game 7 road upset? Let’s take a look at some Stars vs Kraken predictions and best bets to help answer those questions.

Stars vs Kraken Odds • Game 7

NHL odds used for these best bets are current as of Monday, May 15, 2023, at noon ET, and were found at BetMGM Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Stars (-210) • Kraken (+170)
  • Puck Line: Stars -1.5 (+125) • Kraken +1.5 (-155)
  • Total Goals Scored: Over 6 (+100) • Under 6 (-120)

Stars vs Kraken Prediction • Game 7

Stars 5, Kraken 3

For all the impressive stats these two teams have put up this series, there are two other Dallas statistics that stand out: coach Peter DeBoer is 6-0 in Game 7s, and Jake Oettinger is 23-3-1 after a loss this season.

Despite a Seattle road winning percentage of .680, Dallas should have nothing to fear.

The experience of Tyler Seguin, Joe Pavelski, and Jamie Benn figure to be enough to eliminate Seattle with opportunistic speed and balance. In Dallas, trusting the Stars’ special teams is the final key to a win.

Stars vs Kraken Best Bets • Game 7

Stars -1.5 (+125) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.25 Units

Dallas and Seattle have played the last six contests without even coming close to an overtime or a one-goal game. Dallas won the last game in Dallas by three goals, and Seattle returned the favor in Game 6.

The chances of an empty-net goal or two boost our chances here as well. At +125, the puck line is not unreasonable, making this our NHL bet of the day.

Over 6 Goals (+100) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.25 Units

The Over has gone 9-for-9 between the Kraken and Stars this season, and there has even been some talk this number might shift to 6.5 (it hasn’t…yet). Anything can happen in a Game 7, but Dallas needs to keep scoring because Seattle isn’t likely to stop.

Goals are the name of the game with both teams showing quite an offensive display this series. Expect that trend to continue on Monday night.

NHL odds used for these best bets are current as of Friday, May 12, 2023, at 8 am ET, and were found at BetMGM Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Stars (-155) • Kraken (+125)
  • Puck Line: Stars -1.5 (+165) • Kraken +1.5 (-200)
  • Total Goals Scored: Over 6 (-110) • Under 6 (-110)

Stars vs Kraken Prediction • Game 6

Stars 4, Kraken 3

Jake Oettinger gets in a rhythm when he sees the puck more. Look at the difference during Periods 1 and 3 compared to the middle stanza on Thursday night. Seattle is effective when they are more selective with shots.

Dallas played the game like Seattle with an eye toward transitional hockey. In the past two games, it has worked as the Stars have outscored the Kraken 11-5.

There are some similarities. Expect a closer game as Seattle fights for its playoff lives on Saturday night.

Stars vs Kraken Best Bets • Game 6

Over 6 Goals (-110) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.5 Units

The Stars and Kraken have now gone Over on goals in eight consecutive games. Why fix what is not broken for our NHL bet of the day?

Winning teams in this series have scored four or more goals in each matchup.

Philipp Grubauer has not stopped pucks as he did during the first three games of the series. When Dallas starts getting their offense rolling, the Stars are difficult to slow down.

Jason Robertson awakened with three points in Game 5, which could mean more goals in Dallas’ offing as Seattle will get their share.

Stars ML (-155) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.5 Units

The Stars are playing the game their own way, and it is working.

Again, with their balance returning to form, Seattle has not looked quite the same. There was a moment in Game 5 where the Kraken looked poised to take over. It never happened.

Dallas shut the door. With Roope Hintz and Robertson serving as considerable threats, Seattle is in real trouble. The Stars’ offensive ceiling is higher than the Kraken’s. It’s that simple.

Stars vs Kraken Game 5 Preview

The Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken have played some strange hockey games this year. Tuesday night saw another twist as Dallas flat-out dominated Seattle for the first 40 minutes.

Naturally, that resulted in a 6-3 win that left Seattle scratching their heads.

Thursday night’s pivotal Game 5 should be another doozy full of scoring and wagering opportunities. Read on for my Stars vs Kraken Game 5 best bets.

Stars vs Kraken Odds • Game 5

Lines used for these best bets are current as of Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. ET, and were found at BetMGM Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Stars (-190) • Kraken (+155)
  • Puck Line: Stars -1.5 (+135) • Kraken +1.5 (-160)
  • Total Goals Scored: Over -6 (-110) • Under 6 (-110)

Stars vs Kraken Prediction • Game 5

Stars 4, Kraken 3

One of these games is going to end up like Game 1, but with less scoring. Even in Game 4, Seattle started to finally mount an offense, but it was 6-1 Dallas by then. Every game in this series has featured a cluster of goals that has stolen the show.

Game 5 does not figure to be any different. Again, both teams generate their opportunities, and now, the Dallas balance (from the Max Domi line) looms bigger.

Did the return of Jared McCann actually distract the Kraken? Expect a better effort on Thursday night.

Stars vs Kraken Best Bets • Game 5

Stars (-190) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.25 Units

Dallas showed a side of themselves in Game 4 that the Stars displayed in Game 4 against Minnesota. What is with these teams and patterns? Put simply, the Stars got off the mat and threw a flurry of offense at Seattle.

Seattle is still dangerous offensively, and we expect the scoreboard in Game 5 to be tighter than Game 4, but the Stars are returning home with momentum after a huge road win, making Dallas on the moneyline.

Over 6 Total Goals (-110) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.25 Units

If this was even money, we’d probably bump this up to a half-unit. Yes, every matchup so far (7-for-7) has gone to seven or more goals, but how long can one ride this train?

Both goaltenders have given up their fair share of goals. Even Philipp Grubauer was finally chased on Tuesday night. Despite that, Seattle still managed three goals of their own.

Expecting seven or more total goals on Thursday is not unreasonable and worth the sprinkle.

Stars vs Kraken Game 4 Preview

The Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken played to a stalemate after the first 20 minutes. Then, a puck went off Miro Heiskanen, Seattle scored, and the wheels fell off for Dallas.

The Kraken scored seven times in the Game 3 rout. Can Dallas even the series in Game 4? Read on for our Stars vs Kraken Game 4 best bets.

Stars vs Kraken Odds • Game 4

Lines used for these best bets are current as of Monday, May 8, at 11:00 am ET, and were found at BetMGM Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Stars (-145) • Kraken (+120)
  • Puck Line: Stars -1.5 (+170) • Kraken +1.5 (-220)
  • Total Goals Scored: Over 5.5 (-120) • Under 5.5 (+100)

Stars vs Kraken Prediction • Game 4

Kraken 4, Stars 3

Seattle has made Jake Oettinger look vulnerable twice. Once was with Heiskanen (upper-body injury), and once was without, but the good news is that Heiskanen appears healthy enough to return.

The bad news for Dallas is that they are facing an opponent with far more firepower than the Wild. A total of 12 different players had at least one point for the Kraken on Sunday night.

Dallas may be favored in this series, but it’s clear that these two teams are even at best. At home, Seattle comes away with a close win.

Stars vs Kraken Best Bets • Game 4

Kraken Win In Regulation (+180) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.25 Units

Tuesday’s top pick for this series comes down to another regulation resolution.

Seattle played much differently Sunday, then handled their good fortune wisely. And they still made the Stars chase the play.

Expect a closer contest in Game 4, but Seattle has scored 14 goals in three games. Their balance plays a big role in making them difficult to stop.

The Kraken are also shooting at an incredibly high save percentage at even strength (now above 12%). This makes them a solid home bet to win in 60 minutes.

Over 5.5 Total Goals (-120) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.25 Units

When all the games are producing seven or more goals per contest, keep it going.

Dallas needs to bounce back offensively, which plays right into the hands of Seattle. Until the total gets moved up, do not stray from what has now gone 6-for-6 on the season.

Stars vs Kraken Game 3 Preview

The Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken played to their strengths in Game 2. However, it was the Stars who jumped out to a 2-0 lead and never looked back. That evened the series at one game apiece.

Now, the scene shifts to Climate Pledge Arena for Game 3, and there are some new opportunities in the Stars vs Kraken best bets.

Stars vs Kraken Odds • Game 3

Hockey lines used for these best bets are current as of Saturday, May 6th, 2023, at 11:00 am ET, and were found at BetMGM Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Stars (-145) • Kraken (+120)
  • Puck Line: Stars -1.5 (+180) • Kraken +1.5 (-225)
  • Total Goals Scored: Over 5.5 (EVEN) • Under 5.5 (-120)

Stars vs Kraken Prediction • Game 3

Kraken 4, Stars 3

For the Seattle Kraken, this would be the game to win. Dallas comes off a high where they jumped out to a lead in Game 2 and easily won. Seattle got their split and the Stars climbed back into the series.

Now, with Seattle’s balance and home-ice advantage, that may be enough to turn the tide. Expect the Kraken to get off to a better start at home and hold on for victory.

Stars vs Kraken Best Bets • Game 3

Kraken ML (+120) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.5 units

The Seattle Kraken enjoyed home-ice advantage all season and are desperate to show Dallas they can win at home against them. In March, there was a two-game miniseries at Climate Pledge Arena, Dallas was able to steal both games.

Expect a different result this time, and the other question is, will Jared McCann play? Seattle had the best shooting percentage at home this season in the league (11.9%). Our top NHL bet likes our chances here.

Over 5.5 Total Goals (+100) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.5 units

The one remarkable thing about the Stars and Kraken is their ability to generate offense. Every game between the two teams this year (five in all) has featured six or more goals. Remember, the regular season featured a combined 23 goals.

There is no reason not to expect that again on Sunday night. Expect the nightcap to feature plenty of goals once more.

Stars vs Kraken Game 2 Preview

The Stars and Kraken got off to a hot start on Tuesday night. And that’s an understatement. Six goals were scored in the first period, with five of them in about a five-minute stretch.

What’s in store for the next installment of Stars vs Kraken on Thursday night? Let’s explore the possibilities with some of our favorite wagers for what should be an exciting Game 2 matchup.

Stars vs Kraken Odds • Game 2

NHL lines used for these best bets are current as of Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 9 a.m. ET, and were found at BetMGM Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Stars (-200) • Kraken (+165)
  • Puck Line: Stars -1.5 (+135) • Kraken +1.5 (-165)
  • Total Goals Scored: Over 5.5 (+110) • Under 5.5 (-135)

Stars vs Kraken Prediction • Game 2

Stars 4, Kraken 2

Jake Oettinger does not have a bad game twice and tends to bounce back like few goaltenders can. Dallas also played better after the first 20 minutes in Game 1.

Seattle showed all year that they have a balanced yet potent offense, but Dallas may be able to exert its will in Game 2, especially at home, based on how they closed out Game 1.

The Stars have a slight speed edge with their top six, and that could pay dividends as Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson were a handful for the Kraken defense.

Stars vs Kraken Best Bets • Game 2

Over 5.5 Total Goals (+115) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.25 Units

Even without Jared McCann, Seattle showed great balance in Game 1 with five different goal scorers. Dallas’ power play went 0-for-2, but they had chances.

Considering Game 1’s frenetic pace and the fact that both teams averaged three or more goals during their season series, another high-scoring game is likely. We don’t expect another nine goals, but goals should be plentiful.

Stars Win in Regulation (-125) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.25 Units

The temptation is to go with overtime again, but Dallas does not want to see overtime in Game 2. Seattle may due to their postseason success in extra frames (ask Colorado), but the late push from Dallas in Game 1 suggests they’ll get off to a better start here.

Also, avoiding that -200 moneyline is a wise move. Early in a series, it’s usually prudent to take smaller shots than high-risk wagers. The win in regulation bet is reasonable at its current price.

Stars vs Kraken Game 1 Preview

Tuesday night’s late game headlines the Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken. Dallas unexpectedly enjoys home-ice advantage after Seattle upended the Colorado Avalanche in seven games.

Can Seattle steal Game 1 or will Dallas hold serve as expected? Let’s preview the Stars vs Kraken best bets ahead of Game 1 on Tuesday night.

Stars vs Kraken Odds • Game 1

Stanley Cup playoff lines used for these best bets are current as of Monday, May 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. ET, and were found at BetMGM Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Stars (-165) • Kraken (+140)
  • Puck Line: Stars -1.5 (+155) • Kraken +1.5 (-190)
  • Total Goals Scored: Over 5.5 (+100) • Under 5.5 (-120)

Stars vs Kraken Prediction • Game 1

Stars 3, Kraken 2

Seattle is coming off of an emotional win on Sunday night in Colorado. Meanwhile, Dallas last played on Friday. It will be interesting to see when and if Joe Pavelski and Jared McCann return, if at all.

The Stars had four players with six or more points during round one. Seattle had one while playing a full seven games.

Scoring balance favors Dallas along with special teams and goaltending. Those will make a difference, especially in Game 1.

Stars vs Kraken Best Bets • Game 1

Stars ML (-165) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.25 Units

Again, the goal is to keep the wagers simple. While road teams have had early success in this year’s playoffs and also did well early in the first round of last year’s playoffs, things usually tend to correct themselves from the second round on.

Will that happen in this series? Dallas may show some rust early, which could keep the game close. That’s partly why we’re hesitant to wager on the puck line.

Seattle was a perpetual underdog in every game of the Colorado series, and yet the Avalanche covered the puck line just twice in seven contests. Series openers are not always so cut and dried.

Take Dallas to win on the moneyline as the top NHL bet for Game 1.

Under 5.5 Total Goals (-120) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.25 Units

Expect Seattle and Dallas to feel each other out on Tuesday night. Yes, discipline will be key, and the Kraken had their issues on the penalty kill during the season, which may help the Stars later in Game 1.

However, count on chances to be lower than normal and likely the scoring as well.

Stars vs Kraken Series Preview

The Dallas Stars were expected to make it to the second round. The Seattle Kraken were not.

Seattle upset the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche in seven games. Can they pull off another upset?

Let’s take a closer look at the Stars vs Kraken series prop bets for the second round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Stars vs Kraken Series Odds

To Win Series: Stars (-190) • Kraken (+155)

Hockey lines used for these best bets are current as of Monday, May 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET, and were found at BetMGM Sportsbook.

Dallas changed their tactics in their series against the Minnesota Wild, and when Minnesota had chances, they could not solve Jake Oettinger. Seattle may have the same problem.

Seattle ranked fourth in offense with 3.43 goals per game and second in shooting with an 11.7% accuracy rate during the regular season. Their defense yielded a mere 27 shots per game but gave up more than three goals a contest.

Dallas ranks in the top five in both the penalty kill and power play. That will be the difference, along with Oettinger.

Keep up with all of our Stanley Cup Playoff futures as the action charges on:

Stars vs Kraken Series Prediction

Stars Win in 6 Games

The expectation is that Dallas and Seattle play a closer series than most anticipate.

Dallas did go 2-0-1 against Seattle during the regular season and are arguably the better team in every major phase. Goaltending is better, special teams is better, and even their offense has been more potent in the playoffs.

However, Seattle showed they can beat anyone. Colorado was flawed, but they were still the defending champs. Philipp Grubauer stole that series and will need to be even better against Dallas’ top-six and scoring depth.

Dallas will have some tough moments but should move onward.

Stars vs Kraken Series Best Bets

Dallas Wins in 6 Games (+400) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.1 Units

The expectation is that the Stars and Kraken feature back-and-forth action early. Do not be shocked if each team steals a game from the other on the road. Road teams have been winning at around a .600 clip early in these playoffs.

Dallas and their depth could wear down Seattle later in this series. The Stars have the experience and Oettinger to weather any Kraken storm.

Keeping the wagers small is ideal for series betting as the Stars gain late-round momentum.

Series Ends in 6 Games (+210) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.1 Units

Now, if one believes a team will win in six contests, why not bet the correct result and number of games? Especially when the series Over/Under and spreads do not provide quite as much value.

Could this second-round match go the distance? Yes. Is it likely? That answer is currently no.
