New Orleans Saints (10-2) at Philadelphia Eagles (3-8-1)

New Orleans Saints visit the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. Here’s our complete guide to Saints Eagles Bet Tips. All odds and lines for Saints at Eagles picks are from PointsBet, current as of Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Saints Eagles Bet Tips

Saints Eagles Odds and Betting Lines

  • Against The Spread: Saints -7 (-105)/Eagles +7 (-115)
  • Moneyline: Saints (-320)/Eagles (+250)
  • Total: 44 — Over 44 (-110)/Under 44 (-110)
  • Implied Team Totals: Saints 25.5, Eagles 18.5

The Saints are still rolling, winners of nine consecutive games, losing their last game in the final week of September.

They will look to make it 10 straight, a new league high following the Steelers’ most recent loss to Washington, on Sunday afternoon at the Linc facing an Eagles club that has lost each of their past four games while making a quarterback change in last week’s loss to Green Bay.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will make his first career start on Sunday over Carson Wentz.

Saints Eagles Key Injuries

Saints

Saints CB Janoris Jenkins remains on the injury report with a knee injury that sidelined him for Week 13’s win over Atlanta. The rejuvenated cornerback has played well this season after the Giants couldn’t wait to move off of him in 2019. P.J. Williams should see an uptick in snaps if Jenkins misses his second straight game.

While the Saints will miss Jenkins, they get a lost Eagles offense in the midst of a quarterback change on Sunday. The Saints’ defense should not skip a beat if he ultimately sits.

Eagles

Eagles CB Darius Slay suffered a knee injury in last week’s loss to the Packers. However, reports are suggesting that the injury is not serious. Still, there are no guarantees that Slay will be ready for this Sunday’s tilt with the Saints.

If Slay is ruled out, Michael Thomas should have a much easier time finding holes in the Philly secondary. Normally the Eagles’ nickel cornerback, Nickell Robey-Coleman could slide to the outside if Slay sits out.

Saints Eagles Players to Watch

Saints TE Jared Cook has been cold of late, but he finally found his groove with Taysom Hill in last week’s win over the Falcons.

In the four games preceding Week 13’s win, Cook managed fewer than three targets, two receptions, and 30 yards without a touchdown. Two of those games were with Hill starting over the injured Drew Brees.

However, last week, Cook ended his four-game scoring drought with a 3/28/1 line on five targets. It was his most targets and receptions since Week 8. It was also his first touchdown since Week 8 as well.

Now, Cook will get an Eagles defense surrendering the eighth-most receptions (63), the 14th most yards (622), and the third-most touchdowns to enemy tight ends in 2020.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts will draw the start over Carson Wentz on Sunday against the Saints.

Wentz was benched in last Sunday’s loss to the Packers early in the third quarter. While Hurts led the Eagles to 13 fourth-quarter points, it was not enough to salvage the game or the win. Still, Hurts completed 5-of-12 passes for 109 yards with one touchdown and one pick, adding another 29 yards on five carries.

This isn’t the best matchup for a rookie quarterback making his first NFL start, however. The Saints’ defense is playing like the best defensive unit in the league, allowing fewer than 16 points in each of their past five games.

For Hurts to be effective and make this game interesting, he must make plays with his legs. The Eagles must also utilize Miles Sanders. He is one of the most efficient backs in the league but does not get enough of the workload. That is on Doug Pederson.

Hurts will also have a healthy Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert to work the middle of the field with.

Saints Eagles Weather Report

The weather at Lincoln Financial Field calls for a partly cloudy afternoon at the time of kickoff with a 2% chance of precipitation.

The temperature is forecast at 56 degrees Fahrenheit with 8 mph winds blowing West-SouthWest.

Saints at Eagles Picks

BEST BET: Under 44 (-110)

While Jalen Hurts will provide a spark to the Eagles offense, he will be running into a buzzsaw that is the Saints’ defense. The Saints’ are ranked in the top five in the fewest total yards, rushing yards, passing yards, and points per game.

There is a very good chance the Eagles will be running a one-dimensional offense. Not only are the Eagles ranked 28th in team run plays per game (23.3), but as shown above, they give up nothing on the ground, or anywhere else for that matter. It’s Hurts or nothing on Sunday.

The Eagles have scored fewer than 23 points in each of their past six games and fewer than 17 in each of their past four, all losses.

The Under is 8-2 6-0 in the Eagles’ past 10 games and 6-0 in each of their past six.

The Under is 5-0 in the Saints’ past five games.

The Under is 4-1 in the past five meetings between the Eagles and Saints.

CONSIDER: Saints -7 (-105)

The Saints are the superior team in this matchup. While they are able to weather the storm without Drew Brees, New Orleans is starting Taysom Hill out of necessity. The Eagles moved off Carson Wentz to Jalen Hurts to create urgency and light a spark.

Barring a catastrophic regression from the Saints defense, which has been dominant for the past five games, they should smother an Eagles offense that can’t find its way in 2020. This may end up a close game for most of the contest, but the Saints will eventually blow it open late and cover.

The Saints are 5-0 against the spread in each of their past five games.

The Eagles are 3-5 ATS in their past eight games, failing to cover in three of their past four.

The Saints are 4-2 in their past six meetings with the Eagles.

PASS: Eagles (+250)

I am punting the Eagles Moneyline. They are a team that I don’t trust in a matchup they are severely outmatched in. I can see if Taysom Hill struggled in his time as the starter, but he is 3-0, with victories over a tough Falcons team twice.

Hill has also shown he can pass the football as well as getting the job done with his legs. The horrendous Eagles’ offense is also facing a white-hot Saints’ defense. The Saints will get the job done on the road.
