With Thanksgiving now in the rear-view mirror, the race for the NFL playoffs is heating up.
I went 2-0-1 in Week 13 to improve to 4-1-1 overall. Let’s keep the momentum going.
Here are my NFL Week 14 predictions.
NFL Week 14 Best Bets
All NFL odds used for these Week 14 best bets are current as of Thursday, Dec. 4, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Buffalo Bills -5.5 (-120) vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati is 3-0 when Joe Burrow plays compared to 1-8 when he doesn’t. Going back to last season, he has won his last eight starts, matching the longest stretch of his career. The Bengals’ average margin of victory in those games is 9.5 points.
Based on that and that alone, there’s a lot to like about the Bengals. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. Cincinnati’s defense is bad. Really, really bad. And the Bills, who ran for a whopping 249 yards in last week’s 26-7 win over the Steelers, have certainly taken note.
With the playoffs still far from certain at 8-4, the Bills need every win they can get to keep pace with the rest of the AFC. Back them to take care of business at home as your NFL pick of the day.
Jacksonville Jaguars +1.5 (-108) vs. Indianapolis Colts
With three losses over their last four games, the Colts (8-4) are fading fast, and it may only get worse as Daniel Jones deals with a fractured leg. Jones ran only once for 1 yard in last week’s 20-16 loss to the Texans.
The Jaguars (8-4), meanwhile, are headed in the other direction. Winners of three straight and four of their last five, they can grab sole possession of first place in the AFC South with a win Sunday.
While Jonathan Taylor has been outstanding for Indianapolis, he can only be relied on so much. Expecting him to be the offense with Jones compromised may be too much to ask.
As such, I’m taking the Jaguars — who have won nine straight over the Colts at home — in a small upset for my NFL Week 14 best bets.
Cleveland Browns -4.5 (-105) vs. Tennessee Titans
Myles Garrett aside, the Browns are bad. The Titans, however, are worse. Much worse.
After three straight fairly competitive performances, the Titans returned to their woeful ways last week, losing 25-3 to Jacksonville and dropping to 1-11.
Tennessee went 2-of-12 on third down and finished with 188 total yards, 70 of which came on the opening drive. On top of that, No. 1 pick Cam Ward was sacked three times, raising his season total to 48 (most in the NFL).
The Titans may need to triple-team Garrett. And even that may not be enough. As part of my Week 14 NFL picks, I’ll take the Browns (3-9) to win an ugly one at home.
