Spurs vs Thunder Predictions: Target OKC, SGA in NBA Cup Semifinals

Last Updated: a day ago

The second semifinal of the NBA Cup will feature the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs. Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, at 9 p.m. ET from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The Thunder cruised past the Phoenix Suns 138-89 in the quarterfinals, while the Spurs took down the Los Angeles Lakers 132-119.

Below, check out my NBA Cup predictions for the spread, total, and one of my favorite Spurs vs Thunder prop bets.

Spurs vs Thunder Predictions

All NBA odds used for these Spurs vs Thunder best bets are current as of Thursday, Dec. 11, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Thunder -10.5 (-110) vs Spurs

While the Thunder haven’t covered many games this season, going just 14-11 against the number, they’re coming off a blowout win over the Phoenix Suns. I think a similar result could be possible in this game, too.

The Spurs have allowed opponents to shoot 65.7% on 2-point shots over their last three games, the worst rate in the NBA. Meanwhile, the Thunder are shooting 64.2% on 2-point shots over their last three games, which leads the league.

San Antonio center Victor Wembanyama has a chance to return for this matchup, but I’m not banking on it, so I’m taking the Thunder to win and cover as my NBA pick of the day.

Over 225.5 Total Points (-110)

Not only do I expect the Thunder to shoot extremely well on 2-point shots, but the Spurs will score, too.

This season, San Antonio is shooting 57.1% on 2-point shots (fourth-best in the league) and 36.9% on 3-pointers (10th).

While the Thunder have a great defense, there’s a lot of scoring upside on this Spurs roster, which features De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and more.

Also, think of it like this: If you wager this now and Wembanyama does suit up, that’ll only increase the chances of the over hitting.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Over 30.5 Points (-122)

SGA has posted 31 points or more in three of his last five games and is averaging 32.6 points per game this season.

He leads the Thunder in 2-point shot attempts with 14.3 and is shooting 59.9%. As mentioned, the Spurs have allowed teams to shoot a league-high 65.7% on 2-point shots.

I expect SGA to have a fantastic game on Saturday night.
