NBA Cup Predictions: Take These 3 Teams in Group Stage Play Friday

Last Updated: a day ago

On Friday, Nov. 7, the NBA Cup continues with a full 11-game slate, as every matchup on the schedule is part of Group Stage play.

This portion of the tournament will conclude later this month, with each of the six group winners plus two wild-card teams advancing to the knockout rounds.

Ahead of tonight’s action, I’ll make my NBA Cup predictions, featuring three against the spread and moneyline picks.

NBA Cup Predictions for Friday, November 7

All basketball odds used for these NBA Cup best bets are current as of Friday, Nov. 7, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Thunder -10.5 (-112) @ Kings

The Thunder are coming off their first loss of the season, where they allowed the Portland Trail Blazers to come back and outscore them 40-33 in the fourth quarter to lose by two.

However, I’m expecting a bounce-back performance on Friday

Remember, OKC is 8-1 for a reason, and it’s because this team plays excellent defense, holding teams to 42.3% from the floor (the lowest percentage in the NBA), while also scoring 122.2 points per game, the fifth-most in the league.

The Kings’ defense has been horrible lately, allowing teams to shoot 61.3% on 2-point shots (tied for second-worst) and 38.9% from three (seventh-worst) over their last three games.

Back the Thunder to win this game big as your NBA pick of the day.

Hawks ML (-142) vs Raptors

I like the Hawks to pull this one out at home against the Toronto Raptors. However, with the spread at 2.5 points, I’ll be cautious and take the moneyline.

The Raptors allow teams to shoot 59% on 2-point shots against them, the second-highest mark in the NBA. Tonight, they’ll need to defend a Hawks team that averages 55.4 2-point shots per game and shoots 56.4% from that range, the eighth-highest rate in the NBA.

That’s helped by them being tied for fourth in points in the paint per game (55.8). Not to mention the Hawks have Jalen Johnson, who’s shooting an astonishing 64.7% on 2-point buckets.

Spurs ML (+140) vs Rockets

The Spurs are hosting the Houston Rockets in their first taste of Group Stage action, and I like San Antonio a fair bit in this matchup.

While the home underdogs have been dreadful defending 3-point shots, allowing teams to shoot 43.1% from beyond the arc over their last three games, the Rockets average the second-fewest 3-point tries in the NBA (30.1 per game).

The Spurs are playing excellent defense on 2-point shots, and if they can find a way to limit the Rockets’ success from 3-point range, they can definitely pull off a win and become a favorite in the NBA Cup betting odds to get out of their group.
