Bengals vs Lions Week 6 Prop Bets: Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase & More

Last Updated: Oct 15, 2021

Week 6 in the NFL features a few cross-conference matchups and one of the more intriguing ones is the Cincinnati Bengals against the Detroit Lions.

Both teams are coming off losses in Week 5, though the Lions’ one was more gut-wrenching. They again led late in the fourth quarter only to have it slip away with no time left. Greg Joseph hit a 54-yard field goal a week after Justin Tucker hit a 66-yard attempt to beat Detroit as the Lions fell to 0-5.

The difference of being 0-5 and 2-3 is too small.

As for the Bengals, they lost a heartbreaker to the Green Bay Packers as Mason Crosby kicked the game-winner after missing three straight in the same game. That loss dropped their record to 3-2, which is still good for second in the AFC North.

This matchup has no shortage of betting opportunities, so let’s not waste any time and dive into some Bengals vs. Lions prop bets that could prove to be profitable in our NFL prop predictions and picks series.

Please note that all odds and lines are current as of Friday, October 15.

Bengals vs. Lions Prop Bets: NFL Week 6 Prop Betting Picks

Joe Burrow Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (-190) at Caesars

This almost seems too easy, right? Joe Burrow has thrown for two or more touchdown passes in all five Bengals games thus far, and that shouldn’t change going up against the Lions’ pass defense.

For reference, Detroit has given up 8 passing touchdowns through 5 games and 1,258 passing yards overall to go along with it. Having no Jeff Okudah in the secondary doesn’t help matters after he ruptured his Achilles during the season-opener against the 49ers.

There were always going to be more growing pains this season for Detroit as a brand new staff came in, and it’s likely going to continue in this game. Burrow knows how to spread the ball around, and he’ll also have Ja’Marr Chase ready as a deep option (more on that below).

Ja’Marr Chase Longest Reception Over 26.5 yards (-110) at Caesars

Ja’Marr Chase has been the deep threat in the Bengals offense through five games, and so far, no defense has been able to stop his connection with Burrow. Sure he’s going to command more attention, but that’s been said since his opening game performance, and it hasn’t mattered.

Chase has had a reception of 34 or more yards in each game, and that’s the main reason why I love this prop so much. Even when a defense thinks it has him covered, he’s still able to make them pay over the top.

When Cincinnati gets close to within 30-35 yards of the end-zone, expect a shot or two to the end zone to Chase as the Bengals have been dialing that kind of play up all season. He should be in for a big day.

Evan McPherson Over 2.5 Extra Points Made (+105) at Caesars

Kickers are continuing to get love in these.

Evan McPherson has made three or more extra points in four of the Bengals five games thus far, and with how the Bengals’ offense has scored three or more touchdowns in that same amount of time, it makes this one of the better prop bets to take on Sunday.

Moreover, McPherson has yet to miss an extra point this season (13-for-13).

The Bengals don’t have a top 10 offense in the league coming into this matchup, but that doesn’t need to be the case against the Lions. They’ve averaged 22.8 points per game and 333.8 total yards of offense per game, which is still good enough where this prop will hit.

Cincinnati also has the third-best red zone offense in the league, as the Bengals scored a touchdown 80% of the time once they’re inside the 20.

Get ready for McPherson to get a good day’s work in.

Bengals vs. Lions Week 6 Prop Bets

Jared Goff Over 8.5 Rushing Yards (-120) at Caesars

For as long as Jared Goff has been in the NFL, he’s always been a sneaky good runner. Take this year, for example. He’s had eight or more rushing yards in three of the Lions’ five games.

Goff has always been good at escaping the pocket and scrambling for yardage, whether it’s only for a few yards or more than a handful. I understand that the Bengals have the tenth best rushing defense in football, as they’ve only allowed 507 combined rushing yards thus far, but all Goff needs is one decent run and to not take a lot of sacks.

For all we know, Detroit could call QB design runs to throw Cincinnati’s defense off a bit as its unit will surely be game-planning around stopping De’Andre Swift.
