The 2021 NLDS between the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers was too good of a matchup to end in fewer than five games. Sure enough, the teams have alternated wins throughout the series, with the Giants winning the odd-numbered games (both shutouts) and the Dodgers taking the even-numbered games (both blowouts).
Will that trend continue in Game 5, with San Francisco winning at home and advancing to face the Atlanta Braves in the NLCS? Or will Los Angeles prevail and reach the NLCS for the fifth time in six seasons?
Let’s take a look at my NLDS Game 5 Dodgers vs Giants predictions and best bets. Please note that all NLDS Game 5 odds and lines are current as of 9 AM EST on Thursday, October 14.

Dodgers vs Giants Game 5 Predictions
Logan Webb will start again for the Giants after racking up 10 strikeouts across 7 2/3 shutout innings in Game 1. Webb is 7-0 with a 1.78 ERA at home this year, making him a great choice for San Francisco in this win-or-go-home game.
Los Angeles will roll with 20-game winner Julio Urias, who tossed five innings of one-run ball during the Dodgers’ Game 2 victory. It was another impressive postseason outing for Urias, who improved his playoffs record to 7-2 with a 2.68 ERA and 0.85 WHIP over 43 2/3 innings.
This game can legitimately go either way, as seen in our MLB gameday odds. Both teams have not hit the opposing starters well and both teams have proven that they can win at home and on the road.
The one key point that sticks out, though, is the run differential in this series, as the Dodgers have outscored the Giants 16-9. It’s also worth noting that this is only Webb’s second career postseason start, whereas Urias has already pitched in 19 playoff games (four starts).
With Webb being less proven than Urias, I have Los Angeles taking Game 5 in a low-scoring, wire-to-wire battle.
NLDS Game 5 Pick: Dodgers 3, Giants 2
Dodgers vs Giants Game 5 Best Bets
Best Bet: Dodgers Moneyline (-110) at BetMGM
After backing the Dodgers in their winning effort in Game 4, I will once again be backing them for my MLB bet of the day in Game 5. Urias has proven himself to be a clutch pitcher in October, and I think LA’s talented offense will figure Webb out after struggling against him in Game 1.

Best Bet: Under 7 Total Runs (-110) at BetMGM
Elimination games like these are all-hands-on-deck affairs, which typically produce lower-scoring games. Both starters will be on short leashes, especially after facing these lineups earlier in the series.
Oracle Park also favors pitchers, which should suppress the run environment even more. Given the average of 6.3 runs per game in this series as well as the offensive inconsistency on both sides, I’m taking the Under here.
