The Mountain West Conference finally has a Final Four representative after receiving heavy criticism at the beginning of the NCAA Tournament for the conference’s failures at this stage of the season.
San Diego State will represent the MWC and the Aztecs are the favorites to advance to the National Championship game. They will take on the Florida Atlantic Owls from the Conference USA.
The Owls are the first No. 9 seed to reach the Final Four since the Wichita State Shockers achieved the feat in 2013.

This matchup forecasts as a low-scoring affair similar to the game between the Owls and the Tennessee Volunteers. The Aztecs are 74th in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency rankings but are fourth in adjusted defensive efficiency.
This is similar to the Volunteers, who were 64th in adjusted offensive efficiency and first in the defensive rankings. The Owls held Tennessee to just 55 points in their Sweet 16 matchup.
The Aztecs’ defense have continued to prove me wrong, and it’s time to stop doubting the unit. They have not allowed a team to score more than 65 points so far in the tournament, and only Alabama eclipsed the 60-point mark by scoring 64 points in the Sweet 16.

Darrion Trammell has emerged as a leader offensively for the Aztecs, and I expect his scoring to continue. He has attempted 30 field goals combined in his last two games and has scored in double digits in three straight contests.
Vladislav Goldin grabbed 13 rebounds against Kansas State, and I’m not expecting a similar outcome against the Aztecs, but he should still grab at least seven boards. The Owls need his size and rebounding prowess since the Aztecs are one of the best offensive-rebounding teams in the nation.

If the Owls are going to pull off another upset, they will have to put up points against this Aztecs’ defense. The Owls are definitely capable of posting a high total as we saw them score 79 against Kansas State in the Elite 8.
The Aztecs’ best player, Matt Bradley, has yet to break out in this tournament and has shot 6-for-27 in his last three games. Bradley averaged 12.5 points per game this season and is always capable of having a big game.
The Owls have shown they can play against anybody and an upset victory over the Aztecs would not be a surprise. This longshot parlay has a good chance of hitting and at +800, it’s a pretty solid payout.
