Baylor vs Villanova Bet: 2021 March Madness Sweet 16 Pick & Predictions

Last Updated: Mar 26, 2021

Baylor vs Villanova Bet: 2021 March Madness Sweet 16 Pick. The first weekend of the NCAA Tournament is in the books and we are onto the Sweet 16! In one of the few matchups that don’t feature a crazy combination of teams, we have the top-seeded Baylor Bears facing the Villanova Wildcats.

Neither team has really looked challenged to this point. Baylor defeated both Hartford and Wisconsin with ease. Villanova used hot shooting to get through Winthrop and North Texas.

What can we expect from this Baylor vs Villanova matchup? Let’s take a look.

Baylor vs Villanova Bet: 2021 March Madness Sweet 16

Baylor Bears (-6.5) vs. Villanova Wildcats

Baylor -6.5 (-110) at BetMGM

(Odds current as of Tuesday, March 23.)

Neither team is especially great on the defensive end, which makes the Over bet intriguing, but I think the best bet is to stick with the 1 seed covering.

Baylor’s guard-heavy team thrives on the offensive end, ranked as the third-best offensive efficiency in the country, per KenPom. The Bears average 84.2 points per game, which is the third-most in the country. They also share the ball incredibly well, averaging 17 assists, with over half coming from Jared Butler and Davion Mitchell.

Their ability to distribute and have everyone score is what makes Baylor so dangerous. The Bears also have the ability to get out in transition or play a halfcourt game, as shown by their victory over Wisconsin. Their ability to defend the perimeter should make sure Villanova doesn’t shoot 50% from beyond the arc again. Without that, I don’t think the Wildcats have enough to slow down the Bears late in the game.
