McClanahan has hit his stride over his last eight starts and is starting to look like a future ace for Tampa Bay. In 45 1/3 innings during that span, the 24-year-old rookie has compiled a 3.18 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and a 53:15 K/BB ratio while limiting opponents to a .211 batting average.
While the 6.5 strikeout prop is a tough one, McClanahan has hit the over five times in his last eight starts, including three of his last four. Minnesota’s 26.1 K% this month is the fifth-highest in baseball, while their .214 batting average is the third-lowest. I think these two numbers — plus McClanahan’s continued development — will lead to a 7-8 strikeout performance tonight.

Normally when a team is a -221 home favorite with a 7.5 total, that is an over play on the strikeout props for me based on correlation. However, DeSclafani is coming off the injured list with shoulder fatigue and has started to wear down lately with a 6.63 ERA in 19 innings over his last four starts. The 31-year-old has fallen below this K prop in three of those outings as well.
My gut tells me that San Francisco will be extra cautious with him tonight in a game where they should jump out to an early lead against one of MLB’s worst road teams. There is no reason for them to risk DeSclafani re-injuring himself here, so I’m hoping for an early hook and the under.
