2021 Fantasy Football Busts Projections Week 11 | Sit ‘Em Picks & Players Who’ll Disappoint

Last Updated: Jul 14, 2023

Each week of the 2021 NFL season, I will be listing certain players as potential fantasy football busts for the upcoming week. No, this does not mean I believe these players are trash and should not be rostered.

The players I name in this article each week may have unfavorable matchups, situational changes that negatively impact their value, injury concerns, and other various reasons to avoid having them in your lineups for that specific week.

The adage “stick with your studs" only applies to a few elite fantasy options. You should not be married to all of your starters every week, but instead, pick and choose which players have the best matchups and highest potential of fantasy points each week.

I know that can be a lot of work, but don’t worry, I have you covered with fantasy football tips!

This weekly fantasy football bust article, partnered with my weekly waiver wire article, will assist you in your sit/start decisions every single week for the 2021 season.

2021 Fantasy Football Busts for Week 11 - Quarterback

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Justin Herbert has struggled as of late, throwing under 225 yards and four total interceptions in three of his last four games. Last week, he threw for just 195 yards, one touchdown, and just as many interceptions.

His matchup in Week 11 isn’t the time to buy in on his inevitable bounce back.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have given up the eighth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks and have allowed just one to throw over 300 yards on the season. Moreover, the Pittsburgh defense has given up just two touchdown passes in their last four games.

As much as I would like to see Herbert throw over 300 yards and multiple touchdowns, it’s probably not in the cards this week.

Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts @ Buffalo Bills

Carson Wentz has thrown for multiple touchdowns in six of his last seven games. He’s been an every-week starter until last week. Against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Wentz threw for just 180 yards and zero touchdowns.

This week, he draws the toughest matchup for quarterbacks.

The Buffalo Bills have given up the fewest points to the position this year, allowing just two quarterbacks to throw multiple touchdowns and given up a total of only six touchdown passes through nine games. Buffalo’s defense has logged 19 interceptions on the year.

This will likely be a game where the Colts utilize Jonathan Taylor and their run game to control time of possession and keep Josh Allen off the field. Keep your expectations for Wentz very low this week.

More Week 11 Busts To Avoid:

  • Taylor Heinicke, Washington Football Team @ Carolina Panthers

2021 Fantasy Football Busts for Week 11 - Running Back

Antonio Gibson, Washington Football Team @ Carolina Panthers

Antonio Gibson is coming off a great game in which he scored two touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also ran the ball a season-high 24 times. It felt like a flukey 29-19 win for Washington, especially against one of the best offenses in the league.

This week, The Washington Football Team takes on the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers’ defense is one of the best against the run, giving up the third-fewest fantasy points to running backs.

Gibson has eclipsed 70 rushing yards just once this season (Week 1). He has scored a touchdown on the ground in just three games.

Expect the Washington Football Team to pump the breaks on their rushing attempts this week.

Zack Moss, Buffalo Bills vs Indianapolis Colts

If you are looking strictly at fantasy points, then you were satisfied with Zack Moss last week. He scored a touchdown, but that’s about all he did. Otherwise, he rushed seven times for just 27 yards against the New York Jets.

It’s always important to check the stats of your players to see how/why they provided fantasy production.

Looking ahead to Week 11, Moss and the rest of the Buffalo Bills running back committee will have an uphill battle. The Indianapolis defense has given up the fewest fantasy points to running backs this season.

If the fact that Moss is part of a 3-way split doesn’t scare you away from him this week, his matchup should.

2021 Fantasy Football Busts for Week 11 - Wide Receiver

DJ Moore, Carolina Panthers vs Washington Football Team

Here is a case where the matchup is a tempting one. How do you bench DJ Moore against a defense that has allowed the second-most fantasy points to wide receivers?

For one, Moore has slowed down in production lately. He has logged no more than four receptions in each of his last three games, and he hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 4.

The Carolina Panthers also have Cam Newton back at quarterback, who will need time to re-adjust to the offense. Luckily for the Panthers, they have the best running back in the league to give the ball to while Newton works out the kinks.

Given his recent sub-par performances and the return of a mobile quarterback, Moore is someone you should avoid this week.

Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks vs Arizona Cardinals

Tyler Lockett finally had his first big game since Week 2 before Seattle’s bye week, catching 12 of 13 targets for 142 yards. Things were looking up, but unfortunately, he followed the bye week with two receptions for 23 yards.

Lockett has not been his usual self this season. He has produced some big fantasy days, but they have been few and far between.

The Arizona Cardinals rank among the top 10 in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers and have given up just one 100-yard game to a wide receiver this year. This is far from a favorable matchup.

Tyler Lockett is just a name at this point. He is not someone who should be rostered in 98% of leagues.

2021 Fantasy Football Bust for Week 11 - Tight End

Zach Ertz, Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks

Zach Ertz has played well lately, considering his position. He has 42 or more receiving yards in three of his last four games, but he’s failed to score in his last three.

DeAndre Hopkins has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, which should have increased Ertz’s involvement in the Cardinals’ offense. Unfortunately, it did not.

The Seattle Seahawks have allowed just three touchdowns on the year to the tight end position. They haven’t allowed a tight end to score since Week 5.

With Hopkins expected to return this week, the opportunities will diminish for Ertz.

2021 Fantasy Football Bust for Week 11 - Defensive Team

Green Bay Packers Defense D/ST @ Minnesota Vikings

The Green Bay Packers defense is coming off a great game. They held the Seahawks scoreless! Green Bay had three sacks and two interceptions on the day, giving them some nice fantasy production for your teams.

However, this was the first time the Packers shut out an opponent this year, and we shouldn’t expect a repeat this week.

The Minnesota Vikings have given up the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing defenses. Their offense is a balanced attack with Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson, and Adam Thielen through the air and Dalvin Cook on the ground. They put up a lot of points, which will negatively impact the Packers’ defense this week.
