Tom Brady 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
Father Time catches up to everyone, unless you’re Tom Brady. Leaving the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick behind after 20 seasons, Brady proved he still has plenty of gas left in the tank by leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl title in his first season with the organization. Brady had a fantastic individual campaign as well, finishing with 4,633 passing yards and the second-most touchdowns (40) of his career.
Brady made joining a new team look easy, especially after not having a normal offseason due to Covid-19. He and the Bucs had some ups and downs early on as they worked to get on the same page, but they hit their stride after their bye week and never looked back. Brady appeared much more comfortable down the stretch and finished the season on fire, tallying 1,333 passing yards and a 12:1 TD/INT ratio over his final four regular-season games.
After guiding Tampa Bay to four straight playoff wins, including a dominant 31-9 Super Bowl victory over Patrick Mahomes and the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, Brady is back for his 22nd NFL season. The Buccaneers return mostly intact, so Brady will once again have their full complement of weapons at his disposal, from Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to Leonard Fournette and Rob Gronkowski. With such a stacked supporting cast, Brady appears poised for another huge year.
The question as always with Brady is whether he can sustain his performance at his age. He’ll turn 44 this summer, and he’s not going to play forever. Brady’s been incredibly fortunate to have good health throughout his career, but one has to wonder if this is the year his performance finally deteriorates. He’s shown no signs of slowing down, however, so continue to treat him as an elite quarterback until he does.
Tom Brady 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value (PPR)
There were a lot of questions surrounding Brady in his new environment last year which caused his draft price to be significantly deflated, but that won’t be the case again this year. Brady is currently going as one of the top 10 quarterbacks in fantasy drafts, so fantasy managers still have confidence in his abilities holding up. He could be even better this year after a full season to get acclimated to Tampa Bay’s system, so we can conservatively project him for at least 4,000 passing yards and 30+ touchdowns in 2021.
