Knicks Odds, Spreads, & Props 2024

Last Updated: Aug 16, 2023

The New York Knicks exceeded expectations in a massive way in 2022-23. After entering the season with an Over/Under of 38.5 wins, the Knicks exceeded that total rather comfortably by posting a 47-35 record.

Signing point guard Jalen Brunson paid dividends, as he came in and instantly became the leader the franchise has been longing for. Brunson’s ascension has helped change the complexion of the Knicks and the expectations moving forward.

After coming up short in the Eastern Conference Semifinals to the Miami Heat, the Knicks are mostly running it back with the same roster as last season. However, they traded former No. 8 overall pick Obi Toppin to the Indiana Pacers this Summer and signed Donte DiVincenzo to a four-year contract.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at some Knicks prop bets that offer intriguing value.

Knicks: Over 44.5 Wins (-110)

FanDuel Sportsbook • WAGER: 2 Units

By mostly standing pat this offseason despite multiple star players requesting trades this summer, the Knicks are betting on continuity and the continued progression of their young core to build on last season.

RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes, and Mitchell Robinson are all 25 or younger and continue to improve every year.

However, this is Brunson’s team. The front office re-signed his former college teammate, Josh Hart, to an extension that keeps him with the team through 2027-28, and they signed another in DiVincenzo to further improve the synergy.

DiVincenzo’s ability to knock down threes will be a welcome addition to a team that had spacing issues last year. He shot nearly 40% from beyond the arc in 2022-23, while the Knicks ranked near the bottom of the league in team three-point percentage.

He is a versatile player who can handle the ball, play off the ball, and defend multiple positions, which will make it easy for him to stay on the court. All of this sets up well for the Knicks to win at least 45 games, making this my NBA bet of the day.

Atlantic Division Straight Forecast: 1st BOS/2nd NYK (+330)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

The Boston Celtics have a win total of 53.5 while being the favorites to emerge from the East. Despite a disappointing postseason performance last year, the Celtics went 57-25 in the regular season en route to winning the Atlantic Division.

Barring injury, it is tough to see them not exceeding the 50-win mark and winning the division for a third straight season. They’re the NBA Atlantic Division odds leaders for a reason.

However, given the ongoing drama surrounding James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers, there is an opportunity for the Knicks to leapfrog them in the divisional ranks. If this spills into the regular season, the Knicks could get off to a head start in the race for second place in the Atlantic.

The Toronto Raptors are another divisional rival with plenty of uncertainty heading into the season, with trade rumors surrounding their star forwards, Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby. The Brooklyn Nets went 12-14 to finish the season after trading Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, so they aren’t a threat, either.

Knicks: Earn No. 5 Seed (+550)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.5 Units

The Knicks were the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference last year, and we are betting on them to accomplish that feat yet again this year. The top two teams in the East from last season, the Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks, have the highest expected win totals for 2023-24 yet again.

If the 76ers find a way to bring Harden back or turn him into players/assets who can help reigning MVP Joel Embiid, they should remain a top team in the conference, as referenced by the latest NBA Eastern Conference odds.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, who the Knicks beat in five games in the first round of the playoffs last season, have a young but talented roster that won 51 games last season. Assuming Evan Mobley takes yet another step forward, they could be the third seed in the East regardless of what happens with the 76ers.

We haven’t even discussed the Heat yet, who would certainly vie for a top-four seed in the conference if they ultimately land superstar point guard Damian Lillard in a trade. With that in mind, the Knicks should be firmly in the mix to finish as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference for a second consecutive season.

How to Bet on Knicks Games 2024

How to Bet Knicks Moneylines

NBA moneyline wagers are rather straightforward bets to make. If the team you bet on wins the game outright, you’ll be rewarded.

Naturally, moneyline odds will vary based on the opponent. The Knicks’ odds of defeating the Celtics outright will not be the same as their odds of beating the Hornets (as it should be). This can make moneyline betting tricky and not necessarily the most profitable way to bet on basketball games.

The NBA season is a long one filled with plenty of ups and downs. It is normal for teams to have an off night, or conversely, to play above their expectations. Any team can win on any given night, so riding a team that is heavily favored can come back to haunt bettors.

Since the Knicks exceeded the low expectations that were set for them before the season, they had valuable moneyline odds throughout the year.

How to Bet Knicks Spreads

When betting the spread, you do not have to correctly predict the winner of the game. Instead, you are betting on the margin of victory/defeat of the game.

Prior to the start of a game, sportsbooks will create betting lines of how many points they believe the favored team will win by. The Knicks’ low expectations coming into last season not only presented bettors with juicy moneyline odds, but also provided valuable spreads to bet on.

For example, the Knicks were +4.5 (-108) in their 2022-23 season opener versus the Memphis Grizzlies on the road. Despite being given nearly five points, the Knicks almost won the game outright. They lost by three points in a highly-contested game that went to overtime, covering the spread.

Since the Knicks surpassed expectations in the fashion they did, it boded very well for their record against the spread.

  • 2022-23 Knicks Against the Spread Record: 44-34-4

How to Bet Knicks Over/Unders

If you do not feel confident in correctly predicting the winner of a game and/or who will cover the spread, then try betting on the scoring total. Betting on the Over/Under is based on the combined scoring total of a game.

When the Knicks faced the Heat in the playoffs last season, it was a gritty and hard-fought battle that mostly led to low-scoring outputs from both teams. As a result, the projected scoring totals for the games typically hovered around 207.5 points.

If you bet the Over, you were betting on both teams combining for at least 208 points. If you decided to place a wager on the Under, you were implying that 207 or fewer combined points would be scored in the game.

It is important to stay up-to-date with recent news and trends before betting on the Over/Under of a game.
