Best Knicks Betting Lines 2023
The New York Knicks will enter the 2022-23 season with a fresh, new look. The main core of RJ Barrett, Julius Randle, and Evan Fournier is still here, but with the addition of free agent Jalen Brunson, the Knicks may finally have the point guard they’ve been looking for.
Brunson was a relatively significant get. The 25-year-old averaged a career-high 16.3 points and 4.8 assists per game this past season with the Dallas Mavericks, and he brought his scoring average up to 21.6 points across 18 playoff games in 2022.
There’s no denying that the addition of Brunson makes the Knicks a better team on paper, but will the added talent translate to wins? And should they come, will those additional wins help New York return to the postseason?
Let’s take a closer look at the Knicks betting odds for the 2022-23 NBA season.

Knicks NBA Finals Odds
Knicks Win 2023 NBA Finals (+12000)
I don’t doubt that the 2022-23 version of the New York Knicks will be better than the one we saw this past season, but to suggest that this team resembles anything close to an NBA Finals contender at this point is a massive stretch.
The addition of Brunson helps, but this group is still quite a ways off from competing for an NBA title. Spend your money elsewhere.
Knicks Eastern Conference Odds
Knicks Win Eastern Conference (+7500)
The Knicks aren’t going to win the NBA Finals, and they aren’t going to make it there, either. The Eastern Conference is a gauntlet, with heavyweights like the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat, and Philadelphia 76ers all standing in New York’s way.
Until New York can add a definitive superstar, they’ll be a longshot to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals — and rightfully so.
Knicks Atlantic Division Odds
Knicks Win Atlantic Division (+6500)
If the Eastern Conference is a gauntlet, the Atlantic Division is a torture chamber.
The Celtics, Nets, and 76ers are all legitimate title contenders and feature some of the greatest players in the game today. There’s also the Toronto Raptors, a team that won 48 games last season and features its own assortment of current and future All-Stars.
As it stands, the Knicks are the odd one out in this group. They don’t have a chance at winning the regular-season Atlantic Division title.
Knicks Make Playoffs Odds
Knicks Miss the Playoffs (-188)
On the surface, the Knicks may look like a savvy choice to make the playoffs in 2022-23. After all, they made it in 2020-21, and they’ve improved the roster since going 37-45 last season.
However, given the strength of the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference, I don’t believe this is their year.
The Celtics, Bucks, Nets, Heat, 76ers, and Cavaliers are all locks to make it. The Raptors, Hawks, and Bulls should all be right there as well. That leaves the final play-in spot up for grabs, and it’ll likely come down to the Knicks and Wizards.
Even if they do qualify for the play-in, though, it’s hard to see the Knicks defeating a more talented opponent en route to a playoff spot.
The value may not be there at (-188) odds, but this is the smart bet to make at the moment.
Knicks Win Total Bets 2023
Knicks Under 38.5 Wins (-128)
While I don’t doubt that this team could reach 40-win territory under normal circumstances, this season will be anything but in the Eastern Conference, which is looking superior to the West in terms of overall depth for the first time in a while.
The four other teams in New York’s division should all reach this number as well, which only complicates things for the Knicks since 16 of their games will be played against those opponents this season.
The other teams in the East are simply too talented to let New York reach this high of a win total. The Knicks will take a few games throughout the season against tougher opponents, but I’m expecting a vast majority of their victories to come against other non-playoff foes.
Knicks Prop Bets 2023
RJ Barrett: Most Improved Player (+2300)
Could this be the year that RJ Barrett makes the All-Star leap?
The 22-year-old has improved his numbers in each of his three seasons thus far and averaged a career-high 20 points per game in 2021-22. Should he be able to up his efficiency and other counting stats, he could be on his way to his first All-Star Game in 2023.
The Knicks made a massive investment in Barrett this offseason by signing him to a four-year contract extension and opting against trading for Donovan Mitchell, solidifying Barrett as this team’s No. 1.
We’ll see if that investment pays off in the long haul, but for now, it’s hard to ignore the value we get on Barrett winning Most Improved Player at (+2300) odds.
How to Bet Knicks Moneylines
If betting on basketball is new to you, you’ll likely want to start by wagering on NBA moneylines. Even if you haven’t formally bet moneylines, it’s probably something you’re already familiar with. If you’ve ever made a prediction about who would win a game, you’ve essentially made a moneyline bet.
A team’s moneyline odds change on a per-game basis. For example, the Knicks may be (+145) underdogs against the Raptors. In this case, a $10 bet would earn you $14.50. If New York is a (-130) favorite against the Wizards, a $13 bet would win you $10.
Because all your team needs to do for you to win your bet is win the game, this is the easiest and most simple NBA bet you can make.

How to Bet Knicks Spreads
Spread betting is another common facet of NBA wagering. Here, instead of picking straight-up wins and losses, we’re taking a look at the margin of victory or defeat.
These two options available for each game are evenly-priced at (-110) odds, and the same number is given to both teams. For example, if the Knicks are 7.5-point underdogs against the 76ers, it would look something like this at a sportsbook: 76ers -7.5 (-110) @ Knicks +7.5 (-110).
If you choose the Knicks in this scenario, they would have to either win the game or lose by less than eight points. The 76ers, on the other hand, would have to win by eight or more points to cover the spread.
Teams that are good against the spread are generally those that exceed expectations and keep things competitive against tougher opponents. The Grizzlies, for example, went 52-29-1 against the spread last season.

How to Bet Knicks Over/Unders
Totals are an exciting bet to make in basketball given the high-scoring nature of the game. Here, wins and losses don’t matter. Instead, we’re focusing solely on the total number of points scored in the game.
The total in a game between the Knicks and Nets might be set at 231.5 points. This number is determined by oddsmakers as the expected combined scoring total of the game. From there, it’s up to you if you believe the actual combined total will be higher (Over) or lower (Under).
Pace, points per game, and individual matchups play a big role here, so make sure you’re up-to-date on statistics and roster news before placing a bet on the Over/Under in a game.
