Giants vs Packers Predictions

Last Updated: Oct 5, 2022

The New York Giants and Green Bay Packers will hop across the pond for a Week 5 date at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

The surprising Giants are 3-1 fresh off a 20-12 home win over the Chicago Bears. The Packers are also 3-1 after holding off the upstart New England Patriots in overtime at Lambeau Field, 27-24.

Here’s a look at the best New York vs Green Bay bets.

Giants vs Packers Odds

The Packers opened as an eight-point favorite after winning three straight by an average of seven points. The average margin of victory in New York’s four games is 4.75 points.

Take a look at the best Giants odds and Packers odds for the 2022 NFL season.

Giants vs Packers Implied Totals

Packers 24.75, Giants 16.75

The Giants are scoring just 19 points per game but are only allowing 18 per game. Green Bay is only scoring 18 per game while surrendering about 17 points per contest.

Giants vs Packers Prediction

Packers 20, Giants 14

Green Bay should be able to do enough to win particularly given New York’s sudden uncertainty at quarterback. Starter Daniel Jones tweaked his ankle after rushing for two TDs, then capable backup Tyrod Taylor sustained a concussion in the second half of New York’s win over Chicago — which led to a handful of plays with superstar running back Saquon Barkley playing wildcat QB.

But given the uncertainty at QB, and the way the Giants have played, they will probably try to shorten the game by running the ball and keeping superstar Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the sideline. New York already leads the NFL in rushing yards per game (192.5) through four weeks and is putting up the second-fewest pass yards per game, too, (139.5) ahead of only the Bears.

But Rodgers and the Packers have had a hard time getting going too and are clearly feeling the effects of Davante Adams‘ departure to Las Vegas. They have been leaning on the two-headed backfield monster of A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones. The Packers rank eighth in the NFL in rushing yards per game (145).

All of that means that a fast-moving, low-scoring game is likely in the cards.

Giants vs Packers Bet Tips

Here are some Giants vs Packers betting trends to consider before placing your bets:

  • The Giants are 2-0 all-time in games played in London. This is Green Bay’s first game played in England.
  • This will be the NFL’s 32nd London game in 15 years. Six of the past nine have been decided by a touchdown or less, including the Vikings’ 28-25 win over the Saints in Week 4.
  • Green Bay is 1-1 ATS when favored by six points or more in 2022 but is 7-2 over the past two seasons when favored by at least a touchdown.

Giants vs Packers Best Bets

Giants +8 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

The Packers offense is due a breakout game after sleepwalking in consecutive wins over the Buccaneers and Patriots, but given the Giants’ suddenly stout defense and the trip to London, this probably won’t be the week. I’m taking the Giants to cover by a touchdown-plus.

Under 41.5 Total Points (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

Given the likely fast pace of the game, due to the robust run games each team features, and how each defense has played, this looks like a low-scoring game. Plus, the Giants hardly score at all, which means if Green Bay’s offense does break out, the Under still seems like the right choice.

Saquon Barkley: Over 77.5 Rushing Yards (-127) at Caesars Sportsbook

The Giants are going to do everything they can to get Barkley, the NFL’s leading rusher averaging almost 116 yards per game, the ball especially given the uncertainty at quarterback. Green Bay has been good defensively thus far, and will probably sell out to slow down Barkley, but can they stop him entirely? The Packers rank 22nd in rushing yards allowed per game (126.8).

I think Barkley’s in for a monster game even if the Giants don’t end up putting many points.
