Commanders vs Colts Predictions & Odds

Last Updated: Oct 28, 2022

When the NFL schedule was announced, we all thought we would be watching Carson Wentz and the Commanders take on his old team, which had since been taken over by Falcons legend Matt Ryan.

Instead, we’re getting Taylor Heinicke vs Sam Ehlinger in a battle of the backups.

Who will win this game? And will any points be scored? Find out in my Washington vs Indianapolis predictions and best bets for Week 8.

Commanders vs Colts Odds

As of Tuesday, the Colts are listed as three-point favorites at BetRivers Sportsbook. Home-field advantage is almost certainly the reason why Indianapolis is favored, but perhaps the oddsmakers know something we don’t.

Take a look at the best Commanders odds and Colts odds for the 2022 NFL season.

Commanders vs Colts Implied Totals

Colts 21.5, Commanders 18.5

Oddsmakers have the Colts winning a fairly low-scoring contest by a field goal. Admittedly, giving them three touchdowns feels pretty generous.

Commanders vs Colts Prediction

Commanders 16, Colts 10

Regardless of the outcome of this game, I wouldn’t expect a whole lot of scoring, so consider holding off on that anytime touchdown prop for now. Ehlinger has logged 18 regular-season snaps in his career, and Heinicke is far from a perfect quarterback.

With that said, I have to give the edge to the Commanders here. The Colts appear to be committed to tanking the rest of the way, while Washington is at least trying to compete. After all, they did just pick up a win over the Packers in Week 7.

Both of these defenses are just okay, but scoring has been a big problem. The Colts are averaging 16.1 points per game — fourth-worst in the NFL — while the Commanders are at 17.9, which is good for 24th. It’s unlikely that either team will have much success through the air this week.

Bank on Washington winning a painfully low-scoring contest that makes us all reconsider our allegiance to the sport.

Commanders vs Colts Bet Tips

Here are some Commanders vs Colts betting trends to consider before placing your bets:

  • Both Indianapolis and Washington are 3-4 against the spread this season.
  • Indianapolis is 1-1 as a home favorite; Washington is 0-1 as road underdogs.
  • At 40.5 points, this is the second-lowest total on the board this week.

Commanders vs Colts Best Bets

Under 40 Points (-109) at BetRivers Sportsbook

Prepare for ugly. The Commanders won’t struggle to score as much as the Colts will, but I would be stunned if either side scores more than 20 points in this one. Let’s all hammer the Under and see what happens.

Commanders Moneyline (+130) at BetRivers

Ehlinger is making his first start now that Ryan is officially washed. I really don’t think the Colts are expecting to win too many more games this season, and that includes this matchup with the Commanders.
