Oklahoma State vs Texas Predictions

Last Updated: Nov 28, 2023

Silverware is on the line when No. 7 Texas faces No. 23 Oklahoma State. But for Texas, more could be at stake.

Oklahoma State’s overtime win over BYU punched a last-minute ticket to the Big 12 Championship Game. Meanwhile, Texas defeated Texas Tech to make it to Dallas and will aim for the College Football Playoff.

Read on for Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Texas Longhorns college football picks and predictions for Saturday, Dec. 2, at 12 p.m. ET.

NCAAF lines used for Oklahoma State vs. Texas were current as of Nov. 28 at 2:30 a.m. ET on DraftKings Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Texas (-700) • Oklahoma State (+500)
  • Spread: Texas -14.5 (-108) • Oklahoma State +14.5 (-112)
  • Total Points: Over 55.5 (-108) • Under 55.5 (-112)

Texas is favored by an eye-catching 14.5 points, meaning that it will likely need to win by three possessions to cover this spread. The Over is at a more-predictable 55.5, giving you access to plenty of key numbers on the Under.

Oklahoma State vs Texas Prediction

SCORE PICK: Texas 31, Oklahoma State 21

It’s easy to forget given some more recent results, but it was less than a month ago that Oklahoma State took down Oklahoma in what could be the last Bedlam for quite some time.

Since then, it was crushed by UCF and barely beat BYU, but this team is in the conference title game for a reason; it has been one of the best all season long.

Superstar running back Ollie Gordon II was one Cowboy who did not disappoint, as he ran for a ridiculous five scores in the narrow win.

Of course, Texas lost to that same Oklahoma team, but it has been perfect otherwise, highlighted by a program-changing win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

The Longhorns are coming off of a massive 57-7 win over Texas Tech, despite an off day from QB Quinn Ewers, as the ground game had an absolutely tremendous outing with over 300 yards.

Texas does have an edge over Oklahoma State in this area, but it’s hard to imagine it exploding to the same extent once more, just as it’s not likely that the Cowboys stumble in consecutive games.

Lean towards a Texas win, but it will be a more competitive result than the odds might suggest.

Oklahoma State vs Texas Best Bets

Oklahoma State +14.5 (-110)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit

Before the Texas Tech blowout, the Longhorns had allowed over 300 passing yards to three consecutive opposing passers, which could present some opportunities for a Cowboys air game that has really struggled to provide support for the fantastic Gordon.

The pass blocking has been fine, ranking nearly in the top 40 of PFF’s grades, so transfer quarterback Alan Bowman will simply need to step up and have a top-tier game against the best team he’s faced yet.

On the other side of the ball, the Cowboys have an unspectacular but steady defense that has limited success rate really well, ranking 33rd in the country in that metric.

Texas will need to make some big plays to get through this one, and while it’s definitely able to do so, it’s hard to project the Longhorns doing so at a consistent enough rate to truly pull away and cover this generous number, which puts the key number of 14 on Oklahoma State’s side.

Under 55.5 (-110)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit

Before we even discuss the game itself, let’s address the fact that the Under gives you access to the three most key numbers for totals in college football; 55, 51, and 45.

This alone gives you a reason to at least consider this wager because of the high likelihood of any given game finishing with one of these totals.

Both teams will attempt to run a ground-first offense in this one – Oklahoma State because of Gordon and the approach that took down Oklahoma, and Texas because they’ll have a good chance to get ahead and stay that way.

That’s never good for Overs, as the clock will simply keep running and effectively shorten the game. Before the Tech blowout, this Over hadn’t hit in a Texas game that ended in regulation since the shootout with Oklahoma in early October, so this is a great sell-low spot on points in a Texas game.

Oklahoma State vs Texas Same-Game Parlay

Oklahoma State vs Texas SGP (-110)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit

  • Ollie Gordon Anytime TD (-190)
  • Texas 1H (-410)

We’ll keep things simple here and pull together two props for a same-game parlay that sits just a bit below even money, a great value for a couple of fairly safe bets.

Gordon should absolutely find the end zone at some point; he’s scored 20 times, and at least once in nine of Oklahoma State’s 12 games thus far.

Texas should also hit the other leg with relative ease, as it will be highly motivated to get off to a strong start, even if it tapers towards the end after building a lead.
