Ecuador vs Senegal World Cup Predictions

Last Updated: Nov 14, 2022

Originally, this looked like it would be an easy win for Senegal.

Unfortunately, Sadio Mané suffered an injury during Bayern Munich’s penultimate match before the break, which might now keep him out of the World Cup. He might be included in the final squad for the team but the odds of him playing are slim.

This is a big loss for Senegal as they will now be without arguably their best player. Ecuador now has a legitimate chance to advance from the group and this match against Senegal might decide who comes in second place in the table behind the Netherlands.

Can Senegal overcome the injury to Mané? Will Ecuador take advantage of a shorthanded Senegal side?

Let’s take a further look at the Ecuador vs Senegal matchup in World Cup Group A with my best bets and predictions.

Ecuador vs Senegal Prediction

Ecuador 1-1 Senegal

It might be generous to give both of these teams a goal in this match but since it is the last group stage game, they might be going for it.

If either one of these teams needs three points to advance to the knockout stage, they will be on the attack for the entirety of the game.

Ecuador vs Senegal Betting Tips

This is going to be a slow-paced game with both defenses controlling the game. Without Mané, Senegal will rely on their defense to step up and give them a chance to take points from each game. Kalidou Koulibaly will be leaned upon to lead the backline for Senegal, as well as Édouard Mendy in net for the Lions of Teranga.

Depending on where the two teams stand in the table heading into this game, one of the nations might be playing for just a draw, which will lead to a lack of quality goal-scoring opportunities. Even without Mané, Senegal has talented players in Idrissa Gueye and Ismaïla Sarr.

The key player for Ecuador is 21-year-old midfielder Moisés Caicedo. He is a rising star at Brighton and his ability to be a box-to-box midfielder will be crucial to the Ecuadorian chances of advancing. He will drop back and help the defense when needed and has the pace to be the main part of the midfield in the attack, as well.

His youth alongside Enner Valencia’s experience and leadership are the key components to Ecuador’s success.

This will be a slow game with minimal scoring chances from both teams.

Ecuador vs Senegal Best Bets

Draw No Bet: Ecuador (+105) at Caesars Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

Ecuador matches up well against Senegal in their defensive style of football and how they slowly build up the attack from the back. This will frustrate Senegal’s attack and open up counter-attacking opportunities for Ecuador.

Back the South American nation to at least leave this contest with a draw.
