Bears vs Seahawks Predictions Week 16 | NFL Pick of the Day

Last Updated: Dec 26, 2021

The Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears are both on similar trajectories for the rest of this season, and it’s not in a good way. Both teams have struggled badly due to a multitude of factors, with injuries chief among them.

Seattle’s season went south right after Russell Wilson got hurt in October. He played in the team’s first five games before needing surgery on his middle finger. He was able to return a month later, but by then, the Seahawks’ season was already over.

Despite Seattle being out of it, Wilson has played well in recent weeks, throwing six touchdown passes and just one interception in the three games prior to Tuesday night’s poor outing against the Rams. In short, when he’s on, there aren’t five quarterbacks in the NFL who are better.

Meanwhile, Justin Fields has been starting most of Chicago’s games after the fanbase won over Matt Nagy. Bears fans have been clamoring for Fields to start since he was drafted in the first round.

The stats may look like Fields has been bad (1,870 yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions), but this is a player who hasn’t been able to play up to his full potential yet. Nagy could be out the door after this season, so getting a replacement who can better develop Fields will be crucial.

Who will win this duel between two not-so-good teams? Let’s dive in with our Bears vs Seahawks predictions and best bets to determine which team will emerge victorious in our NFL pick of the day series.

Bears vs Seahawks Prediction

The Bears are looking like a team that’s on pace to pick in the top 10 for next year’s NFL Draft. They have lost eight of their last nine games and are 4-10 overall.

Nothing has gone right on both sides of the ball, and Chicago’s fanbase is getting restless with Nagy at the helm.

The Seahawks have lost two of their last four games and are on a similar trajectory. As I said above, they have been plagued by injuries all season and their record could look vastly different if Wilson didn’t get injured in early October.

While Pete Carroll has done his best to squeeze the most out of this roster, there’s only so much he can do.

Seattle is barely averaging 20 points per game this season, despite its defense ranking fourth in opponents’ points per game at 20.2.

With both teams struggling this season, one of them still has to win this game. I like Seattle to win this one and send the Bears to 4-11.

Prediction: Seahawks 30, Bears 20

Bears vs Seahawks Best Bets

Best Bet: Seahawks -6.5 (-110) at Caesars

Wager: 1 Unit

I’d be more hesitant to make this bet if the game was in Chicago, but Seattle being a comfortable home favorite here isn’t shocking.

I like Wilson more at the moment compared to Fields, and he should be able to hit enough big plays where it’ll be too much for the Bears to handle.

The Bears are giving up nearly 25 points per game this season as well, which isn’t going to cut it.

Could an upset happen? Absolutely, considering what happened with Arizona-Detroit last Sunday. That said, Seattle has been the better team as of late.

Best Bet: Over 42.5 Total Points (-110) at Caesars

Wager: 1 Unit

Some may say it’s risky to take the Over, but I’m expecting Seattle to score most of the points in this one. Going into Tuesday night’s game against the Rams, the Seahawks had scored 30-plus points in back-to-back games against the 49ers and Texans.

The Texans game isn’t surprising, but the 49ers have had a good defense throughout the season. Seeing Seattle put up 30 on that unit was impressive, and I think they can do that again facing a worse Bears defense.

Take the Over for this one and make it your NFL bet of the day.
