NFL Power Rankings Week 9 | What Are the Latest Team Power Rankings 2021

Last Updated: Nov 2, 2021

Week 8 was the week of backup quarterbacks and upsets. We saw Mike White, Cooper Rush, and Geno Smith all get wins in Week 8 and teams like the Browns, Vikings, and Cardinals all lose at home despite being favored.

That is going to cause some major movement in this week’s power rankings. So without further ado, let’s get to the rankings!

All playoff lines and odds used in the NFL power rankings series are provided by , and are current as of Tuesday, November 2 at 2:00 p.m. ET.

NFL Power Rankings for Week 9

32. Miami Dolphins (1-7) ↔️

  • Playoffs Odds: +4000
  • Super Bowl Odds: +250000

The Dolphins are bad. Like, really bad. And it’s not just a quarterback issue, either. The defense has regressed and the entire offense is dysfunctional. It might be time for the Dolphins to consider making some big changes because things are cratering in Miami.

31. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-6) ⬇️ 2

  • Playoffs Odds: +10000
  • Super Bowl Odds: +500000

The Jaguars were coming off their bye week and were blown out by Geno Smith and the Seahawks. It was just a reminder of how far away the Jaguars are, even if Trevor Lawrence does prove to be a franchise quarterback.

30. Detroit Lions (0-7) ⬇️ 2

  • Playoffs Odds: +50000
  • Super Bowl Odds: +1000000

The Eagles and Lions were viewed as similar teams entering Week 8. And yet, the Lions found a way to lose by 38 points at home. Jared Goff is still winless without Sean McVay (0-16) and the offense for Detroit is among the worst in the NFL.

29. Houston Texans (1-7) ⬆️ 1

  • Playoffs Odds: +25000
  • Super Bowl Odds: +1000000

The Texans did battle back from a huge deficit against the Rams to make the score somewhat respectable. But this is a team void of young talent on both sides of the ball and they desperately need Tyrod Taylor to return to the lineup.

28. Atlanta Falcons (3-4) ⬇️ 6

  • Playoffs Odds: +650
  • Super Bowl Odds: +50000

Calvin Ridley stepping away from football for a while has had a big impact on the Falcons. Their offense just isn’t explosive without him and rookie tight end Kyle Pitts can only do so much.

The Falcons can have moments where they look competent, but they are a long way away from being a contender in the NFC.

27. New York Jets (2-5) ⬆️ 4

  • Playoffs Odds: +4000
  • Super Bowl Odds: +500000

The Jets! Who would have thought that backup quarterback Mike White would throw for over 400 yards and lead the team to its second victory of the season?

The Jets are playing with a lot of confidence right now under Robert Saleh and could be a spoiler for several contending teams over the final two months of the season.

26. Washington Football Team (2-6) ⬇️ 2

  • Playoffs Odds: +1800
  • Super Bowl Odds: +50000

Washington just can’t get a win. Their defense has played better as of late, allowing just 17 points to the Broncos on Sunday, but the offense can’t get going at all. Sitting at 2-6, they are in real danger of being out of the playoff hunt as we enter the month of November.

25. New York Giants (2-6) ⬆️ 2

  • Playoffs Odds: +2000
  • Super Bowl Odds: +75000

The Giants were competitive against the Chiefs in Kansas City, but they continue to make the same mistakes that cost them wins.

They are the league’s worst team in the red zone and have been outscored 42-0 in the final two minutes of the first half so far this season. New York is a team that is frustrating to watch because it is clearly talented on both sides of the ball.

24. Carolina Panthers (4-4) ⬇️ 4

  • Playoffs Odds: +500
  • Super Bowl Odds: +15000

The Panthers are one of the most difficult teams in the NFL to figure out. Is the defense good? Is Sam Darnold good? No one knows, but they did get a much-needed win over the Falcons in Week 8 to get them back on track.

23. Denver Broncos (4-4) ⬆️ 3

  • Playoffs Odds: +225
  • Super Bowl Odds: +15000

After four straight losses, the Broncos did bounce back in Week 8 and get a win. Still, the offense isn’t very good and the front office just traded away Von Miller. Denver might get to eight wins this season, but it isn’t a real contender.

22. Philadelphia Eagles (3-5)⬆️ 3

  • Playoffs Odds: +400
  • Super Bowl Odds: +20000

The Eagles got a convincing win over the Lions in Week 8, but there just isn’t a lot of upside here with Philadelphia. The defense can look good in spurts, but it allows far too many big plays. The offense isn’t consistent enough through the air and the offensive line is a mess.

The Eagles might be the second-best team in the NFC East, but that isn’t saying much.

21. Seattle Seahawks (3-5) ⬆️ 2

  • Playoffs Odds: +225
  • Super Bowl Odds: +15000

The Seahawks needed to win a game without Russell Wilson and they did so against the Jaguars in Week 8. With the NFC Wild Card race being wide open, the Seahawks are still in a position to grab a No. 6 or No. 7 seed when Wilson returns.

20. Chicago Bears (3-5) ⬇️1

  • Playoffs Odds: +1200
  • Super Bowl Odds: +50000

Chicago was competitive against San Francisco in Week 8, but the offense still wasn’t good enough. The defense struggled to stop the run and Khalil Mack’s absence didn’t help.

19. Cleveland Browns (4-4) ⬇️7

  • Playoffs Odds: +110
  • Super Bowl Odds: +3500

The Browns have some major issues right now that are preventing them from winning games. The passing attack just isn’t explosive or consistent at all and the run defense is among the worst in the NFL.

With another loss, the Browns would be in real danger of falling out of the AFC North divisional hunt and out of the AFC Wild Card race, as well.

18. San Francisco 49ers (3-4) ↔️

  • Playoffs Odds: +160
  • Super Bowl Odds: +6600

The 49ers are the NFL’s biggest enigma. Sometimes, the offense is humming and they are running the ball as well as any team in the league. In other weeks, their offense looks slow and unimaginative.

It’s tough to figure out just what to think about this team going forward.

17. Indianapolis Colts (3-5) ↔️

  • Playoffs Odds: +175
  • Super Bowl Odds: +8000

The Colts were up 14-0 against the Titans, but managed to find a way to lose at home in overtime. The Colts are still very talented, but they need to find a way to win games late.

16. Minnesota Vikings (3-4) ↔️

  • Playoffs Odds: +225
  • Super Bowl Odds: +10000

The Vikings are in real trouble after losing to the Cowboys with Cooper Rush under center. The offense looks broken right now and the defense has real issues in the secondary.

The Mike Zimmer era might be coming to an end in Minnesota.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3) ⬆️ 6

  • Playoffs Odds: +125
  • Super Bowl Odds: +6600

The Steelers have now won three straight games and their next two opponents are the Bears and Lions. Pittsburgh has a legitimate shot of going 6-3 in their first nine games and contending for the divisional crown once again.

Bet Tip: The schedule for the Steelers is really soft over the next few weeks and the AFC is wide open. Betting them at +125 to make the playoffs feels like a really safe and smart bet after seven games.

14. Kansas City Chiefs (4-4) ⬆️ 1

  • Playoffs Odds: -165
  • Super Bowl Odds: +1100

The Chiefs won in Week 8, but didn’t do it in a convincing fashion. The offense still turns the ball over too much and is having trouble in the red zone.

The Chiefs come in at No. 14 due to their incredible talent level, but they are not even close to a contender right now.

13. Los Angeles Chargers (4-3) ⬇️ 4

  • Playoffs Odds: -330
  • Super Bowl Odds: +2500

The Chargers have taken a major step back over the last few weeks and it’s mostly due to the right side of their offensive line. Two injuries have really impacted the unit and caused Justin Herbert to regress.

The Chargers are still contenders in the AFC, but they have to fix some of their protection issues before they can be taken seriously.

12. New England Patriots (4-4) ⬆️ 2

  • Playoffs Odds: +115
  • Super Bowl Odds: +8000

The Patriots have looked excellent over the last month and are coming off an impressive win against the Chargers in Los Angeles. The offense is finally starting to click as New England has figured out how to run the ball effectively.

With games against the Panthers, Browns, and Falcons coming up, the Patriots could firmly establish themselves as contenders by the end of the month.

11. New Orleans Saints (5-2) ⬆️ 2

  • Playoffs Odds: -500
  • Super Bowl Odds: +3500

Talk about a bittersweet win on Sunday. The Saints beat the Buccaneers at home once again and made Tom Brady look mortal, but they lost Jameis Winston for the season with to a torn ACL.

Sean Payton is good enough to find ways for this team to be successful without Winston, but the ceiling for New Orleans is significantly lower than it was a week ago.

10. Las Vegas Raiders (5-2) ⬆️ 1

  • Playoffs Odds: -150
  • Super Bowl Odds: +5000

The Raiders were off in Week 8, but they actually saw their odds to make the playoffs rise with teams like the Chargers, Browns, and Bengals all losing. The Raiders have a real chance to steal the AFC West this season. They move up in our rankings due to several other contenders not impressing this week.

Bet Tip: The Raiders are leading the AFC West and are only -150 to make the playoffs. With their defense playing as well as it is and the rest of the conference looking shaky, those are some good odds to back.

9. Cincinnati Bengals (5-3) ⬇️ 2

  • Playoffs Odds: -125
  • Super Bowl Odds: +4000

The Jets game in Week 8 always felt like a trap for the Bengals and they couldn’t avoid it. It was an ugly loss by a much more talented team and now they have a big matchup with the Browns on Sunday.

The Bengals also need to do a better job of protecting Joe Burrow if they want him to make it through the season.

8. Baltimore Ravens (5-2) ↔️

  • Playoffs Odds: -650
  • Super Bowl Odds: +1200

The Ravens were on bye in Week 8 and they desperately needed it. No team in the NFL has more players on the injured reserve list than Baltimore.

Sitting at 5-2, the Ravens still have to be considered the favorites to win the AFC North even after losing to the Bengals in their last outing.

7. Tennessee Titans (6-2) ⬆️ 3

  • Playoffs Odds: N/A
  • Super Bowl Odds: +2000

The Titans just got a huge divisional overtime win against the Colts in Week 8, but it was bittersweet. Derrick Henry has been lost for the year due to a foot injury and he is the heart and soul of this team.

Still, it’s tough to rank many other AFC opponents ahead of the Titans considering their 6-2 record.

6. Buffalo Bills (5-2) ⬇️ 1

  • Playoffs Odds: -10000
  • Super Bowl Odds: +500

The Bills got another double-digit win over an AFC East opponent, but we are still unsure how good they really are. Their win against the Dolphins wasn’t that impressive and Josh Allen was inconsistent once again.

Buffalo’s next big test doesn’t come until later in the month when it visits the Saints in New Orleans. But until then, the Bills’ schedule is soft with their next three opponents combining for six total wins.

5. Dallas Cowboys (6-1) ⬆️ 1

  • Playoffs Odds: -5000
  • Super Bowl Odds: +1000

The Cowboys just won a game on the road, in primetime, with a backup quarterback against a quality NFC team. The defense is outstanding and Dallas just proved it is more than just a team led by Dak Prescott.

The Cowboys are legitimate Super Bowl contenders for the first time in several years.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-2) ⬇️ 1

  • Playoffs Odds: -10000
  • Super Bowl Odds: +600

Tampa Bay has real problems in its secondary right now and injuries are starting to catch up to some of the team’s older players. Still, the Buccaneers have championship DNA and will be favored in just about every game going forward.

3. Arizona Cardinals (7-1) ⬇️ 2

  • Playoffs Odds: -5000
  • Super Bowl Odds: +1000

The Cardinals lost a tough game on Thursday Night Football that they should have won. But, a Kyler Murray interception in the end zone has moved them down a few spots.

They are still tied for the lead in the NFC West and a No. 1 seed is still on the table for Arizona.

2. Green Bay Packers (7-1) ⬆️ 2

  • Playoffs Odds: -10000
  • Super Bowl Odds: +800

The Packers just went into Arizona and beat the Cardinals without their top three receivers. That is what you call a statement win. The Packers are now favored to be the No. 1 seed in the NFC as their schedule is pretty soft over the next few weeks.

1. Los Angeles Rams (7-1) ⬆️ 1

  • Playoffs Odds: -3500
  • Super Bowl Odds: +650

The best team in the NFL just earned a blowout win in Week 8 and added All-Pro edge rusher Von Miller to their roster. Not bad.

The Rams should be the Super Bowl favorites as Matthew Stafford is the odds-on favorite to win the MVP award. Los Angeles is hitting on all cylinders and is only getting better by the week.
