Brandon Aiyuk 2020 Fantasy Football Recap
Aiyuk enjoyed a robust role right from the jump after being plucked by the 49ers with the 25th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Despite missing four games due to injuries, Aiyuk still finished with 60 catches for 748 receiving yards. He also found the end zone seven times, including twice on the ground.
The Arizona State product often received an expanded role because of Deebo Samuel‘s frequent absences due to injuries and COVID-19, which limited him to just seven games. He also persevered through playing with three different starting quarterbacks over the course of the campaign and established solid chemistry with all of them, maintaining impressive production throughout.

Brandon Aiyuk 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
Aiyuk enters 2021 with sky-high expectations after demonstrating what he could do as a rookie with a revolving door at quarterback as well as extra defensive attention due to the multi-game absences of Samuel and George Kittle. The versatile wideout even flashed some prowess on the ground with a pair of rushing touchdowns on six attempts, and given his speed he may see more opportunities in the form of jet sweeps, reverses, and other similar plays.
Aiyuk should also have Samuel and Kittle alongside him more often in 2021, which will open up the field for him and perhaps even extend his average depth of target from last season’s modest 9.3 yards. The quarterback situation should also have more stability to open the season, as San Francisco appears intent on starting the year with Jimmy Garoppolo under center and rookie Trey Lance backing him up.
If Lance does end up taking regular-season snaps at some point, it will ideally be because he’s earned the opportunity and is ready to contribute, as opposed to coach Kyle Shanahan prematurely thrusting the rookie into action because Garoppolo is struggling or injured. Given Lance’s superior ability, he could ultimately give the offense a higher ceiling and boost Aiyuk’s fantasy numbers in the process.
Brandon Aiyuk 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value (PPR)
Aiyuk just missed finishing inside the top 30 at his position last year, and likely would have landed in the top 25 or 20 had he played every game. His ADP reflects that, as he’s currently going around the start of the seventh round as the 25th receiver off the board. While his quarterback situation isn’t the best, the 23-year-old has the potential to be a solid WR2 or WR3 in PPR leagues and is worth considering in the fifth or sixth round.
