WynnBet is a reputable sportsbook that carries the name of the renowned casino resort brand of the same name. It’s established a foothold within the iGaming space since 2020.

There are several betting markets available on this platform, including moneylines, which are one of the most popular choices because of how easy it is to understand — all you need to do is pick the winner.

In this article, you’ll familiarize yourself with the ins and outs of moneyline wagering, learning about the steps involved with placing a bet, along with effective strategies.

How to Do Moneyline Bets on WynnBet

Follow these steps to place a moneyline wager on WynnBet:

Step 1: Create an Account or Sign In

Read our WynnBet review to learn more about the platform. Click the “Get Bonus" link on the page to access the WynnBet site. This will unlock the best welcome offer here. From there, you’ll need to provide some personal information, including your name, address, and more. If you already have an account, enter your username and password.

Step 2: Deposit Funds

Now it’s time to put money into your account so that you can place your bets. Select “Deposit" to open up the banking methods, which include ACH, Credit/Debit, PayPal, and more. The great part about this is that the funds are instantly transferred to your balance, so you’re ready to play right away.

Step 3: Navigate the Betting Markets

The next step requires you to choose your preferred sport. You’ll find them organized by sections at the top of the page. Once you make your selection, you’ll see the schedule of upcoming games for that league. Moneylines will be on the main page because they’re a traditional betting market.

Step 4: Add to Your Bet Slip

Now you can click your desired moneyline to add it to your bet slip. You can adjust the stake on your wager. WynnBet will show you the potential payout, which depends on the odds. You have the option to toggle on or off for “Accept Line Change." If this is turned on, it won’t prompt you about any last-minute changes in odds.

Step 5: Straight or Parlay?

To place a straight wager, click “Place Bet." If you want to create a parlay of two or more moneylines, go back to the main page to add another pick to your bet slip. You’ll see the “Parlay" option appear at the top of the slip. As with straight bets, the payout is automatically updated by the site.

What Does Moneyline Mean on WynnBET?

The moneyline is the odds attached to each side in a game. It is based on the implied probability for that outcome to occur. There is a favorite and underdog, with the former having a higher chance of winning the game and vice versa for the latter.

The favorite has a minus moneyline, offering lower payouts, while the underdog is a plus, providing greater winnings. We often see the moneyline change as we get closer to game-time.

Let’s take a look at an example:

New York Mets (+130) vs Atlanta Braves (-150)

The Mets are the underdogs (plus odds), while the Braves are the favorites (minus odds). Atlanta has a higher implied probability of winning this game. If you wanted a $100 payout here, you’d be risking $150 on the Braves. Putting $100 on the Mets would result in $130 if they won.

WynnBet Moneyline Rules

Keep these moneyline rules in mind:

  • If you’re taking the final portion of a game (4th quarter, 2nd half, or 3rd period), it does not include overtime unless otherwise indicated. This is also true with three-way moneylines, which include ties.
  • Full game moneylines do include overtime.
  • MLB games need to go at least 4.5 innings for them to stand. If the game is called early due to weather, whichever team was leading at the time would win the game.

Moneyline vs Spread

Both moneyline and spread wagers involve selecting the winner of the game, but there is one distinct difference. Spread has the added wrinkle of considering the margin of victory, while this does not matter in moneyline wagering. Whether my team wins by one or 40, it’s the same result with moneylines.

Let’s take a look at an example:

Kansas City Chiefs -5.5 (-110) at Arizona Cardinals +5.5 (-110)

This is a point spread wager. The Chiefs need to win by six or more if you take them. Selecting the Cardinals requires them to lose by five or fewer or win the game.

Chiefs (-250) at Cardinals (+200)

Here we have a moneyline bet. As you can see, taking the Chiefs would result in a lower payout in this case. Selecting the Cardinals would offer more potential winnings. Each side simply needs to win the game.

The spread offers bettors an alternative to laying heavy juice on the moneyline. Instead, they can pick the winning margin to reduce their risk and increase their potential profit on the bet.

Underdog vs Favorite

Every game has an underdog and favorite. You can identify each by their plus or minus odds. As mentioned above, the underdog has a lower probability of winning the game, but they offer greater payouts. The opposite is true for favorites.

Here’s an example:

New York Giants (+250) at Tennessee Titans (-250)

The Giants (plus odds) are the underdogs, and the Titans (minus odds) are favorites. Wagering $100 on New York would pay $250, while taking the Titans would offer a $40 payout on a $100 bet.

WynnBet NFL Moneylines

You’re able to place a moneyline wager on the following NFL events:

  • Full game: Bet on the final result
  • 1st/2nd/3rd/4th quarter: Wager on a specific quarter
  • 1st/2nd half: Focus on one half
  • Live moneyline: Make a bet after the game has started

It’s best to focus on the full game with moneylines. It’s hard enough to decide on the winner of a game — it’s even more difficult to focus on a quarter or half. It’s also better to emphasize underdogs because upsets occur quite frequently in the NFL. You don’t want to be laying heavy juice and draining your bankroll.

The other option here is to try to find value on live moneylines. If a heavy favorite is losing early in the game, you can get them at a more favorable number. We often see such teams get back on track as the game progresses, so you’re able to find some good spots with this strategy.

Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is great because it’s the biggest sporting event of the year. It’s the one exception I’d make with quarters and halves moneylines. This is because it’s the only game available for you, so adding a quarter or half wager is a good way to find more action.

We often see both teams get off to slow starts in the big game, so you could find some nice value on the underdog in one specific quarter. Likewise, if the favorite is trailing at halftime, they can be a strong live wager.

As always, the focus remains on the entire game, as this is your best path to profit. However, the Super Bowl is the one instance where I’d add in quarters and halves.

Moneyline Bet Strategies

Remember these strategies when betting on moneylines:

  • Don’t lay heavy juice on favorites. You don’t want to get burned by an upset.
  • Instead, focus on underdogs for higher payouts.
  • Examine the head-to-head matchup to see if there are any mismatches.
  • Take a look to see if teams perform better at home vs on the road.
  • Make note of any prominent injuries that could impact the result.
  • Check each team’s recent performances to get a sense of how they’re playing.

Moneyline Betting for Beginners

If you’re new to moneyline betting, don’t worry — we’ve got you covered:

  • Keep track of your record to be aware of your profits and losses.
  • Focus on straight bets because they’re easier to win than parlays.
  • Be sure to use any valuable promotions because they can be helpful.
  • Shop around different sportsbooks to find the best odds.
  • Never risk too much of your bankroll on a single wager.

How to Calculate Moneyline Odds

Moneyline odds are displayed in American format at WynnBet. This means that you’ll see a positive or negative number, usually three to four digits. While the payout and risk is calculated automatically by the site, we’ll show you how to do it yourself with a few examples:

  • Risk $100 on -130 Odds
    • 130 / 100 = 1.3
    • 100 / 1.3 = 76.92
    • A $100 wager would pay $76.92 at -130 odds
  • Win $100 on -150 odds
    • 150 / 100 = 1.5
    • 100 x 1.5 = 150
    • You’d risk $150 to win $100 at -150 odds
  • Risk $100 on +140 odds
    • 140 / 100 = 1.4
    • 100 x 1.4 = 140
    • You’d win $140 on a $100 wager here

Why Are Moneylines a Good Bet?

Moneylines are a good bet for the following reasons:

  • All you need to do is pick the winner.
  • You can hit nice payouts on underdogs.
  • Parlay heavy favorites to reduce the risk while taking advantage of their higher implied probability.
  • You can monitor line movement to get a sense of where the action is going to guide your selection.
  • You’re able to find value by placing wagers on in-game moneylines.

Can Moneylines Be a Bad Bet?

Moneylines can also be a bad bet:

  • You don’t want to pay expensive prices because that can eat into your profits.
  • Don’t focus too much on favorites/underdogs, be sure to mix it up.
  • If you play too many parlays, that will drain your bankroll.
  • Never “hammer" any wager, be smart and prudent with your picks — practice money management.

What Sports Are Available for Moneylines?

You can bet on moneylines in the following sports:

  • NFL
  • MLB
  • NBA
  • NHL
  • NCAAB
  • NCAAF
  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • MMA
  • Formula One
  • Golf

Is There Bet Insurance on Moneylines?

You’ll notice that bet insurance is a common signup bonus across the sports betting industry. This is where you’re provided with a “risk-free bet," where you’ll get a refund that matches your initial wager if it loses. This is capped between $200-$1,500.

As long as your moneyline wager meets the odds requirements (-200 or greater), you’re able to use it on this promo.
