CFB MWC Odds To Win

Last Updated: Jul 21, 2023

There has been a different Mountain West Conference champion in each of the last four seasons. Fresno State, Utah State, San Jose State, and Boise State have all taken home the title over that span, respectively.

Boise State is the early favorite to take the conference with QB Taylen Green leading the offense. The Broncos are also blessed with a productive running back committee, spearheaded by fifth-year senior George Holani.

Because the conference has opted to remove divisions, the top two teams at the end of the regular season will play in the MW Championship game.

Best Bet To Win MWC

Air Force Falcons (+400)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.25 unit

Air Force boasts one of the best Group of Five defenses in the country. The problem for years now has been a stagnant offense and it doesn’t help that the Falcons also do not redshirt players.

Although Air Force is essentially replacing every key player on offense, this is a system that doesn’t rely on stars. Returning this year is John Lee Eldridge III, who rushed for 766 yards on 99 carries (7.7 ypc).

A ball control offense buoyed by a stifling defense should help Air Force keep this conference honest and challenge for another double-digit win season.

Favorite To Win MWC

Boise State Broncos (+185)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 0 units

The Broncos should have no trouble winning enough games to finish at the top of the Mountain West. It should almost be thought of as an automatic bid to the MWC’s championship game.

At quarterback, Green has the talent to pass for 2,500 yards and rush for 800 yards. At 6’6" and 223 pounds, he is a rangy, long strider and athletic enough to carry this team into another successful season.

You won’t find Green as a longshot Heisman Winner on most sportsbooks, but his upside could put him in “keep an eye on" conversations around the award.

Sleeper Bet To Win MWC

Colorado State Rams (+3000)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.1 unit

The Rams are blessed with two great players on offense: incumbent deep threat WR Tory Horton and incoming four-star freshman RB Damian Henderson. The freshman could be a revelation for the Rams, which have endured five straight losing seasons.

At 6’3" and 185 pounds, Henderson has great straight-line speed and toughness. He’s so good that he may be a paradigm shift for a program that has fallen far from its successful run through the ’90s and ’00s.

MWC Team To Fade

Fresno State Bulldogs (+380)

The Bulldogs were a handful last year. After a sputtering 1-4 start, Fresno St. reeled off nine straight wins, including victories over Boise St. and Washington St. in the MW Championship and Los Angeles Bowl, respectively.

QB Mikey Keene transfers in from UCF and Fresno must replace their leading rusher Jordan Mims and three leading receivers.

Keep an eye on CB Cam Lockridge who may be one of the better cornerbacks in the country, not just the Mountain West. The defense looks very good, but the offense limits how far this team will go.
