Clippers Odds, Spreads, & Props 2024

Last Updated: Aug 23, 2023

The Los Angeles Clippers entered the 2022-23 season with high expectations, but once again, they failed to meet them. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George struggled to stay healthy, and a few games into the first round of the playoffs, neither player was available.

It wasn’t all negative, but for the most part, few things went in LA’s favor.

The 2023-24 campaign may be this team’s last shot at winning a title as patience runs out within the fan base and front office. With that in mind, let’s look at my favorite Clippers prop bets for the 2023-24 NBA season.

Clippers: Over 46.5 Wins (-105)

Caesars Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

The Clippers have developed a reputation for not treating the regular season with respect during Leonard and George’s tenure. Whether that’s a fair assessment or not, coach Tyronn Lue has already come out and said that the team needs to take things more seriously on a nightly basis.

It’s an encouraging sign, and I’m encouraged to consider betting the Over on their relatively low win total. This Clippers team is capable of much more, as evidenced by the fact that they were on a 50-win pace in the shortened 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.

LA may also still have the inside track on acquiring James Harden from the Philadelphia 76ers, who would provide this team with another All-Star talent. Harden isn’t the scorer he used to be, but he’s still a phenomenal playmaker who would make life easier for Leonard and George on offense.

If the Clippers stay healthy — and that’s a huge if — there’s no question that they have the talent and coaching to surpass this total. It’s just a matter of luck and attitude at this point.

The value is there at (-105), making this my NBA bet of the day.

Clippers: Win NBA Finals (+1800)

Caesars Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.25 Units

This is an even bigger leap of faith than my previous bet, but a path exists for the Clippers to earn their first NBA title in franchise history this coming season.

We’ve seen Leonard achieve impossible feats before, and it’s no secret that he saves his best basketball for the playoffs. With one of the best two-way players the game has ever seen at the helm, the sky is the limit for the Clippers as long as he can stay on the floor.

Los Angeles is also well-equipped to handle other top contenders, including the Los Angeles Lakers, whom the Clippers have gone a perfect 11-0 against under Lue.

I have enough pause here to limit my wager to a quarter of a unit, but the Nuggets were in this NBA Finals odds range before the 2022-23 season, too, so it’s far too soon to rule the Clippers out already.

Clippers: Miss NBA Playoffs (+200)

Caesars Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.5 Units

You’ve heard the optimistic view, so here’s the pessimistic (or perhaps realistic) outlook for the Clippers’ 2023-24 season.

Los Angeles has the displeasure of playing in the most competitive division in basketball. Yes, they have Leonard and George, but the Lakers have LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Phoenix Suns have Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, and the Golden State Warriors just added Chris Paul.

There’s also the Sacramento Kings, who won the Pacific in 2022-23 after earning 48 wins and posting the league’s No. 1 offensive rating behind the stellar play of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.

If the Clippers don’t get their act together quickly and start taking things more seriously, they could find themselves in a losing battle by December. And considering that Leonard and George played in just 38 games together this past season, I understand why you might not be too high on LA.

How to Bet on Clippers Games 2024

How to Bet Clippers Moneylines

Moneyline betting is an excellent way for new sports bettors to get introduced to the scene. Perhaps the most simple bet type available, all you need to do to win a moneyline wager is correctly choose the winner of a game.

There’s a favorite (-) and an underdog (+) in every game, and a team’s moneyline odds will change depending on their status. A team like the Clippers will be a favorite more often than not, which means there’s less potential to turn a high profit by betting on them to win a game.

Backing underdogs to score upsets can earn you more cash, but it’s important to keep in mind that not every team makes the most of these opportunities. In 2022-23, the Clippers went 35-17 in games they were favored in and 10-25 as underdogs, including the playoffs.

How to Bet Clippers Spreads

Spread betting is a popular alternative to moneylines, as your chosen team doesn’t necessarily have to win the game for you to win this type of bet. Instead of outright winners and losers, spread betting allows you to wager on a set handicap, which is essentially a margin of victory.

For example, if the Clippers are at home against the Kings, LA may be favored by a few points. At a sportsbook, this might look something like this: Kings +4.5 (-110) vs Clippers -4.5 (-110).

In this case, the Clippers would need to win the game by more than 4.5 points to cover the spread. Otherwise, if the Kings win the game or lose by less than 4.5 points, LA would not cover.

Generally speaking, teams that fail to live up to expectations are worse against the spread. At 40-42, the Clippers were relatively average in this department in 2022-23.

How to Bet Clippers Over/Unders

If you’re ever unsure of which team will win a game, an Over/Under wager may be your best bet. Rather than picking a winner or betting against the spread, these bets have to do with the total points scored by both teams in the game.

The Clippers and Kings delivered some seriously high-scoring games last season, so for their first matchup in 2023-24, the Over/Under might be set at 240.5 points. In this example, the Over would hit if more than 240.5 points are scored, while the Under would hit if it ends up falling below that number.

Injuries can lead to games being lower-scoring than usual, so it’s always good to keep an eye on the latest injury reports to make sure you know who will be playing in a game before betting the Over/Under.
