Patriots vs Titans Predictions & Best Bets

Last Updated: Aug 31, 2023

The New England Patriots are slated to conclude their preseason schedule against the Tennessee Titans on Friday. It will be the final tune-up game for both teams, and players that are competing for roster spots get their last chance to make a case to remain on the 53-man roster to begin the 2023 campaign.

The Patriots and the Titans are both 1-1 in the preseason, with both teams coming off wins against NFC North teams. There’s a chance we see starters play longer than the previous preseason contests as this will be the final game until Week 1.

Patriots vs Titans Odds

NFL odds used for this New England vs Tennessee preview were found at FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook and are current as of August 23 at 8:30 a.m ET.

  • Moneyline: Patriots (-135) • Titans (+115)
  • Spread: Patriots -2.5 (-110) • Titans +2.5 (-110)
  • Total Points: Over 38.5 (-105) • Under 38.5 (-115)
  • Implied Score: Patriots 20.5, Titans 18

Patriots vs Titans Predictions

Score Pick: Patriots 20, Titans 16

We get to see Bill Belichick go up against his former-player-turned head coach in Mike Vrabel, though, it’s in an exhibition setting. When looking at the Patriots and the Titans, both teams are focused on playing lockdown defense and an offense that can maintain possession rather than create explosive plays.

Considering that both teams have mediocre offenses and strong defensive units, this is trending toward being a low-scoring affair. The Patriots have combined for only 30 points in their first two preseason games, while the Titans have produced a total of 41 points.

While the Titans have gone 2-1 in the preseason in back-to-back seasons under Vrabel, Belichick has an 11-5 record in the preseason over the last five years.

Patriots vs Titans Best Bets & Props

Patriots (-135)

FanDuel Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit

With the Patriots and the Titans likely deploying starters a bit longer in this matchup, the edge should be given to New England on the moneyline for the NFL bet of the day. The Patriots expect to have an elite defense again in 2023, and with Treylon Burks sidelined for the Titans, their offense lacks playmakers ahead of Week 1.

In the Titans’ first two preseason games, opposing teams have combined for 10 sacks against them. While he won’t unleash his full defensive game plan yet, look for Belichick to dial up a few different things against Vrabel’s squad.

Patriots Win by 1-13 points (+155)

FanDuel Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.5 units

Over on FanDuel, they offer a winner margin four-way wager that allows you to bet on a set number of points a team could win by. The Patriots to win from anywhere between one to 13 points on Friday has solid odds, making it an enticing wager to take in hopes to return over double your bet.

Even if the Patriots secure a win against the Titans, it’s hard to envision this game being a lopsided contest between two slow-paced offenses.

Under 38.5 (-108)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit

Once again, the Patriots and the Titans aren’t projected to have fast-paced or consistently effective offenses in 2023. At the same time, Belichick and Vrabel are defensive-minded coaches that have talented players on the defensive side of the ball.

Taking that into account, it’s hard to see either team scoring a ton of points in their preseason finale where starters should get a bit more rest. Both teams are also getting adjusted to new offensive schemes and skill players ahead of the regular season.

Patriots vs Titans Same Game Parlay

Patriots vs Titans SGP

FanDuel Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.25 units

  • Patriots (-135)
  • Under 38.5 (-108)

With the selection of the Patriots to win and both teams likely to contribute to scoring fewer than 39 points in Friday’s contest, you can parlay both for a solid return. New England should secure the win on the road to finish with a 2-1 record in the preseason, making it an intriguing bet to use in a parlay.

On the other hand, neither team operates a fast-paced offense, which should lead to a low scoring output for both teams.
