MLB Betting Props of the Day: Best Baseball Prop Picks Today 6/2/21
Walker Buehler, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. St. Louis Cardinals (9:10 p.m. ET)
Over 6.5 strikeouts (-160)
Wager: 1 unit
Even though the Cardinals don’t strike out a lot, I’m putting my faith in Buehler tonight. He’s averaged just under a strikeout per inning this year with an 8.7 K/9 rate, and he’s also been consistently pitching deep into games. He’s gone at least six innings in all 10 of his starts this year, and I think he’ll be able to do so again against a St. Louis lineup that ranks near the middle of the pack offensively.
There are a few other points in Buehler’s favor as well. For starters, he typically pitches much better at Dodger Stadium, where he has a career 2.51 ERA and a 10.6 K/9 rate. The Cardinals have also struggled against right-handed pitchers, batting just .226/.295/.380 against them this year. St. Louis has had issues scoring runs in general lately too, averaging 3.92 runs per game over its last 39 games.
All things considered, this is a good matchup overall for Buehler and I like his chances of hitting the over here.
Sean Manaea, Oakland Athletics @ Seattle Mariners (10:10 p.m. ET)
Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+105)
Wager: 1 unit
I recommended Manaea for his last start and he cashed, so I’m betting he can do it again. He’s currently averaging over a strikeout per inning, and his 9.2 K/9 rate is the best of his career.
While the lefty has historically pitched better at home, he’s had success pitching in Seattle. In eight career starts at T-Mobile Park, he has a 3.94 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, and has limited the Mariners to a .233/.291/.337 batting line.
The Mariners, meanwhile, have been a trainwreck offensively. They rank at the bottom of the American League in several key categories such as hits, OBP, and OPS. They’ve had a tough time against lefties this year, too, hitting just .206/.278/.375 versus southpaws. After averaging 3.43 runs per game in May, Seattle shouldn’t pose much of a threat, giving Manaea a good chance to go deep tonight and rack up some Ks.
