Yu Darvish, San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets
Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-165)
Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 1.61 units)
After back-to-back seasons with a strikeout rate of exactly 31.3 percent, Darvish is thriving in that department again with a 30.0 percent strikeout rate this year. He’s also been one of the few pitchers on the Padres to give them much length, logging at least six innings in seven of his 11 starts. The Mets are dealing with several key injuries to their lineup right now, so Darvish could take advantage by dominating some of their lesser hitters.
Tyler O’Neill, St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds
To Record An RBI (+125)
Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 2.25 units)
After an unlucky .189 BABIP last year left O’Neill with disappointing numbers, he’s hitting .281/.311/.617 this year thanks to a .343 BABIP. His barrel rate is a whopping 20.7 percent, which has been one of the main reasons for his success. It’s also helped him drive in 26 runs over just 37 games this year, including 14 RBIs over his last 13 games.
O’Neill has a chance to remain productive against rookie Vladimir Gutiérrez
, who is making just his second start in the majors. After posting a career 4.88 ERA in the minors, Gutiérrez could be an easy target for MLB hitters.
Brandon Crawford, San Francisco Giants vs. Chicago Cubs
To Record A Hit (-200)
Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 1.5 units)
Crawford and the Giants are set to face Zach Davies
, who has allowed 55 hits across 50 1/3 innings this year. He’s also had trouble missing bats (career-low 5.2 K/9 rate) and has struggled with his control, leaving him with a 1.63 WHIP.
After a slow start, Crawford has been on fire over the past month, batting .284/.392/.605 since the beginning of May. Look for him to stay hot against the struggling Davies, who’s been dreadful on the road this year with a 6.41 ERA away from Wrigley Field.
