Julio Jones 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
Jones’ 2020 season was a frustrating one for fantasy managers, as he was constantly in and out of the lineup with a recurring hamstring injury before being shut down in December just as fantasy playoffs were about to start. While he was productive when healthy, his nine games played were his fewest since 2013.
It was also clear that Jones needed a change of scenery after spending his first 10 seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. After publicly demanding a trade on live TV, his wishes were granted when Atlanta dealt him to the Tennessee Titans.
With Jones onboard, the Titans’ offense looks loaded. Jones will now share the field with the reigning NFL rushing champion Derrick Henry and one of the NFL’s best young players in A.J. Brown. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill has also seemingly found new life in Tennessee, where he’s emerged as one of the league’s better passers over the past two seasons.
While Jones’ supporting cast will be one of the best of his career, the star receiver should still be able to produce as he has in the past if his health holds up. The Titans lost two of their primary offensive weapons to free agency in Corey Davis and Jonnu Smith, who combined for 157 targets last year. Jones is the perfect candidate to soak up as much of that volume as possible given that he’s averaged 132 targets per season throughout his career.

Julio Jones 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value (PPR)
While injuries limited Jones’ fantasy value last year, the 32-year-old is expected to enter the 2021 season fully healthy and ready to reclaim his spot as one of the NFL’s top receiving threats. He’ll join a high-octane offense that ranked fourth in the NFL in scoring last year, albeit one that’s not as pass-happy as Atlanta’s was. The Titans are extremely run-heavy given how much of the offense flows through Henry, ranking 30th in pass play percentage last year.
Accordingly, Jones is unlikely to see the same volume of targets he was afforded with the Falcons, although he’ll still receive plenty as one of Tennessee’s top two receiving options. He’ll also no longer have an offensive-friendly dome as his home stadium, and his body may be more injury-prone now after a decade in the NFL. But while his ceiling may not be as lofty as it once was, Jones still carries an extremely high floor that should enable him to re-enter the top 20 at his position in PPR formats.
