49ers-Rams Players to Watch

49ers running back Jerick McKinnon. He’s received at least 15 touches in four games this season, tallying a touchdown in three of those contests. Facing a stout Rams D, that hasn’t allowed a 100-yard rusher in 2020, it could be tough sledding for the RB. However, the Rams have allowed five rushing TDs in 10 games this season.

Still, the 49ers are likely to get at least one of Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, and Jeff Wilson, so that could strengthen their backfield.

Nick Mullens has topped 235 passing yards in each of his past three starts while tallying four TDs, but to expect a big output on Sunday. The Rams haven’t allowed a QB to top 265 passing yards since the 49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 268 and 3 TDs in Week 6.

All three players that Jimmy G hit for paydirt likely won’t be on the field in Week 12: George Kittle (out), Brandon Aiyuk (out) and Deebo Samuel (questionable).

While Aaron Donald‘s 9.0 sacks and three forced fumbles can wreck a game, the Rams D as a whole is ranked No. 1 in the league. The unit gives up just 291.9 yards per game and 19.2 PPG. This defense has been a driving force in the team’s back-to-back wins, and a revenge game is a very likely outcome here. The 49ers beat the Rams, 24-16, in the aforementioned Week 6 game. But this is a much different cast of characters taking the field Sunday.

Jared Goff is coming off a game where he went 39-of-51 for 376 yards, three TDs and two picks. When these teams previously faced off, Goff had 198 passing yards, two TDs and one interception. I’d expect something in between in this contest. Look for Goff to go for 250 and two in a game that could keep the Rams atop the NFC West.

49ers-Rams Weather Report

The weather report for SoFi Stadium calls for sunny skies and a high of 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

49ers Rams Bet Tips

BEST BET: Under 45 (-115)

If you happened to read my bet tips on the Rams’ Week 11 Monday Night loss to the Bucs, you’d know that I will play the Rams under from now until forever. They have a league-leading seven unders this season (tied with the Giants, Cardinals and Bears) and these two teams played to a 24-16 final (40 points) just a few weeks back.

Plus, the 49ers were actually healthy in that contest. This seems like a solid best bet for a tough divisional matchup.

CONSIDER: Rams -6.5 (-110)

The Rams are 3-1 ATS as a home favorite this season, with an average margin of victory of 8.0 points. They’ve won two in a row since a Week 9 by against two teams with Super Bowl aspirations — the Seahawks and the Buccaneers.

The only reason this isn’t my best bet is because the Rams have a massive rest disadvantage, having played on Monday night while the 49ers are coming off their bye.

PASS: Rams (-301)

This is a steep moneyline price to pay for a team that already lost to its division rival in Week 6 in San Fran. Yes, I think the Rams win, but no, I won’t give my sportsbook 3-to-1 odds on any divisional game.
