Cleveland Browns 2021 Schedule, Changes, and Outlook

The Browns’ first season under head coach Kevin Stefanski was a massive turnaround from the team’s disappointing 6-10 campaign in 2019. Cleveland never lost consecutive games at any point and enjoyed two separate four-game win streaks en route to an 11-5 season. After guiding Cleveland to its first winning season since 2007 and first playoff appearance since 2002, the pressure is on the Browns to get back to the postseason again this year.

The Browns seem to have finally found their franchise quarterback in Baker Mayfield, who took a big step forward in 2020 while cutting his interceptions by 62 percent. The offensive line, which features a pair of former first-round picks in Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin, is one of the best pass-protecting and run-blocking units in the league. The dominant backfield duo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt also returns intact after combining for 2,362 yards from scrimmage and 23 touchdowns last year.

The receiving corps retained its top two weapons in Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry, while Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones are back in the fold as well. Third-round pick Anthony Schwartz could be one of the fastest receivers to ever step on an NFL field if his true speed is anywhere near his reported 4.25 40-time.

As talent-laden as the offensive side of the ball is, the defense should be just as critical to Cleveland’s success, especially considering that the Browns will likely need to go through the Buffalo Bills and/or Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. A unit that was very good against the run but sprung some leaks against the pass brought in former Rams standouts John Johnson and Troy Hill to shore up the secondary, and they also drafted a highly versatile and athletic linebacker/safety hybrid in Notre Dame’s Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

The Browns’ offseason improvements should help them remain competitive in what is always a tough AFC North, which they’re looking to win for the first time since 1989. While their schedule is fairly challenging, it still includes a handful of fairly easy games for Cleveland to capitalize on. The Browns have the talent to match up with anyone, and should be competitive in nearly all of their games.

Cleveland Browns 2021 Win Total Bet Pick

Browns To Win Over 10.5 Games in 2021 NFL Regular Season (-120)

The Browns have an elite foundation when it comes to the running game and defense, which is integral to winning on the road, winning late in the season, and winning close contests. Their schedule is one of the tougher ones in the league, but Cleveland has sufficient talent on both sides of the ball to overcome that and win at least 11 games in a 17-game season.
