MLB Betting Props of the Day: Best Baseball Prop Picks Today
José Urquidy, Houston Astros @ Baltimore Orioles (7:05 p.m. ET)

One of my favorite strategies for betting strikeout props is getting a huge favorite against a weak opponent. We get that in the Houston-Baltimore game tonight, where the 45-28 Astros are heavily favored (-196 moneyline) against the 23-50 Orioles. Houston should cruise to an easy win, which will allow José Urquidy to stay in the game longer.
Urquidy has averaged five strikeouts per start this season, including 6.8 over his last four outings. After a bumpy start to the year, Urquidy has been excellent over the past two months with a 3.00 ERA and a 40:5 K/BB ratio in his last eight starts spanning 48 innings.
This is a plus matchup for the 26-year-old righty, as Baltimore has a right-handed-heavy lineup that strikes out 22% of the time at home against RHP, which is 22nd in baseball. Given Urquidy’s 1.00 WHIP and 1.4 BB/9 rate, he should be able to keep runners off the bases and pitch deep enough into the game to hit the over here.
Robbie Ray, Toronto Blue Jays @ Miami Marlins (7:10 p.m. ET)
Over 7.5 Strikeouts (+100)
Wager: 1 unit
One of the things that becomes second nature when you frequently bet on baseball is that you get a feel for where the lines should be on a given player. The over/unders for Robbie Ray are typically in the 8.5-10.5 range, but tonight we get Ray in a National League pitchers’ park against a middling Marlins lineup with a low game total of 7.5 runs.
Ray averages 7.5 strikeouts per game, and that is where his strikeout prop is tonight. Ray has tallied at least eight strikeouts in seven of his 13 starts this year, including five of his eight road outings. The southpaw has also been a much better strikeout pitcher since the beginning of May, averaging 8.6 whiffs punchouts over his last nine turns.
Look for Ray to continue that trend against the Marlins, who have a 28% strikeout rate against left-handed pitchers at home. The bottom half of their lineup is especially vulnerable to whiffs, which is where a high-strikeout pitcher like Ray can do some damage.
My projections have Miami as the weakest lineup on the evening slate, which adds up to Ray going over his strikeout prop of 7.5.
