MLB Betting Props of the Day: Best Baseball Prop Picks Today 7/9/21

Last Updated: Jul 9, 2021

Michael Rathburn is here with your MLB Betting Props of the Day for July 9. Which July 9 K props make up the Best Baseball Prop Picks Today 7/9/21.

MLB Betting Props of the Day: Best Baseball Prop Picks Today

Charlie Morton, SP, Atlanta Braves @ Miami Marlins (7:10 p.m. ET)

Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-110)

Wager: 1 unit

Charlie Morton has faced the Marlins three times this year, only one of which came on the road. The two home starts were strong on the strikeout side, as he got seven and nine, respectively. The start in Miami only lasted four innings, and he struck out just three batters.

Morton has been solid his last four starts striking out 32 batters in 26 innings with a 2.42 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 5 BB. The Marlins have averaged 10.9 strikeouts per game in the last 10 games — an average of 1.2 per inning (27%, third-worst in baseball). If Morton can get into the sixth inning, he should be able to hit the over on 6.5 strikeouts.

It will be interesting to see if Marlins OF Adam Duvall is in the lineup tonight. If he sits, Morton’s chances should rise.

Alex Cobb, Los Angeles Angels @ Seattle Mariners (10:10 p.m. ET)

Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+100)

Wager: 1 unit

Cobb has a lot on the plus side in this matchup tonight against the Seattle Mariners. The Angels are a road favorite (-126) and the total is just 8.5. While 8.5 is a tad high for a game in Seattle, it is not for the total landscape of baseball.

Cobb averages 5.8 strikeouts per game and the posted strikeout prop comes in at 5.5. I have the line projected to be 6.5, so we get some value. His strikeout rate on the season is 27.4%, and the Mariners strike out 27.4% in this split over the last 30 days (vs. RHP at home) which is second-worst in baseball. He faced the Mariners on June 5 and went seven innings with six strikeouts and just one walk, though he did allow five earned runs.

Pitching in Los Angeles is a lot different now that the right field fences have been moved in. It has become one of the top splits for left-handed batters when they face right-handed pitching.
