MLB Betting Props of the Day: Best Baseball Props Today 7/8/21
Bryce Harper, Philadelphia Phillies at Chicago Cubs
To Hit a Home Run (+270)
Wager: 0.5 units (win would pay 1.85 units)
The key for this matchup is the Phillies facing Adbert Alzolay, who has allowed 2.0 HR/9 this season. That includes him giving up at least two home runs in three straight starts. Left-handed hitters are slugging a whopping .608 against him, which makes Harper an appealing option to go deep, especially when you factor in these odds.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles
To Record an RBI (-106)
Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 1.94 units)
Guerrero has had a productive series, driving in two runs in both of the first two games. Going back a little further, he has recorded at least one RBI in six straight matchups against the Orioles. They have one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball and will start another underwhelming pitcher in Keegan Akin, who has a 7.46 ERA this season. That leaves Guerrero with a favorable opportunity to continue his RBI streak against them.
Keegan Akin, Baltimore Orioles vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-125)
Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 1.8 units)
In his 11 appearances this season, Akin only has a 20.4 percent strikeout rate. That’s contributed to him recording four or fewer strikeouts in five of his seven starts. Part of the problem is that he can’t pitch deep into games, allowing at least four runs in each of his last four starts. That included facing these same Blue Jays when he allowed six runs and posted only three strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings. The Blue Jays could hang another crooked number on him in their rematch, which means it could be a short outing for him with a limited number of strikeouts.
