F1 Miami Grand Prix Predictions & Best Bets

Welcome back to the second running of the Miami Grand Prix. Last year’s first running was full of pomp and circumstance, given the locale.

This year’s running promises to be just as good for one of the few stateside-based races on the schedule.

To everyone’s surprise (read: nobody’s), Max Verstappen was the champion of the inaugural event last season, with Ferrari’s Charles LeClerc coming in second and Carlos Sainz third.

I’ll touch on this and more in my Miami F1 betting picks below.

F1 Miami Grand Prix Odds

Formula 1 odds for Miami are current as of Friday, May 5, at 3 p.m. ET and found at BetMGM Sportsbook.

F1 Miami Winner Prediction

Max Verstappen (-175) • BetMGM Sportsbook

It’s hard to really pick anyone else other than Verstappen this weekend. He looked a bit lackluster last week in his P2 finish behind teammate Sergio Pérez, but he dominated at this track last season.

While DraftKings sits at (-250), you can find these much better odds over at BetMGM Sportsbook for this F1 bet of the day.

You have to spend up a bit for this pick, but it is well worth it, especially if Max is able to capture pole position for the start of this race. Red Bull’s car is much better put together than the competition’s, and the multiple straightaways on the Miami track will create a smooth journey.

Verstappen has both the talent and now the motivation to lead himself to his third victory of the 2023 season.

F1 Miami Max Verstappen Tips

Verstappen will always be the favorite in today’s F1 hierarchy, simply because he has the best results over the past year-plus.

For this reason, I will always give some thought to betting him if he is (-225) or better given his relative odds to win each week.

F1 Miami Sergio Pérez Tips

Perez is coming off his second win of the season and has a similar betting line (+330) as he did last week (+350).

However, we have to ask ourselves about the likelihood of him outgunning Verstappen in back-to-back races, despite them being teammates. Perez is the second-most likely driver to win in this race, but he finished P4 here last season and a full 10 seconds behind Max.

F1 Miami Best Prop Bets

Lewis Hamilton: Podium Finish (+250) • BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 unit

We’ve seen the Mercedes-Benz team fall a bit by the wayside this season as they’ve admitted at times that their car is not at the same standard as the Red Bull car is, but that won’t stop 7-time champion Hamilton from competing hard.

In fact, it seems like he may have turned a corner (ha, joke) last weekend in Baku as despite finishing P6, Hamilton looked a little more at ease than he has most of the time this season, and was pulling off some impressive moves at the restart grids. I think he has enough juice to get onto the podium this weekend.

Charles LeClerc: Fastest Qualifier (+270) • FanDuel Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 unit

LeClerc captured pole position here last year and he notched the pole for last week’s race in Azerbaijan.

The Monacan has struggled a bit this season, crashing out of multiple races, but last week’s effort produced his first podium finish of the year. He might be finding his groove again.

If Ferrari wants to have a chance at the Constructor’s Championship this season, it begins with LeClerc being his best self, so Miami is a good place to start for him.

Max Verstappen: Fastest Lap (-110) • FanDuel Sportsbook

WAGER: 2 unit(s)

Just over even odds for this wager feels pretty favorable to me, as Verstappen has already had the fastest lap once this year and nearly had it twice. (George Russell beat him out for it last week right at the end of the race.)

Verstappen also had the fastest lap at the Miami GP last season, and I’m perfectly fine taking him to get it once again.
