The Indianapolis Colts are one of the more appealing landing spots for a rookie wide receiver such as Cincinnati’s Alec Pierce, as they don’t have any major receiving threats beyond Michael Pittman Jr. Jack Doyle has retired and T.Y. Hilton may as well have done the same a few years ago.
As such, Pierce should get the opportunity to contribute from the jump on a team desperate for quality pass-catchers.

Grabbing Pierce at No. 53 overall was a smart move for the Colts, who addressed a significant need on their roster at wideout.

Pierce is a big, physical wide receiver with a lot of upside, especially with a veteran quarterback like Matt Ryan throwing to him. Pittman draws a lot of defensive attention as well, taking some pressure off Pierce.
The only issue is that Ryan will be 37 this season and appears to be in decline, which may limit Pierce’s big-play potential. The Colts could also feature a run-heavy offense behind Jonathan Taylor, especially if Ryan’s arm continues to fade.
Alec Pierce Fantasy Football WR Tips
Unlike some of his rookie peers, Pierce has a chance to make an immediate impact in the NFL.
Pittman will remain the WR1 in Indy, but the opening is there for Pierce to come in and carve out a role early on. Ryan is a reliable passer who has helped the fantasy careers of Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, and others.
Pierce is someone you can take a flier on late in your fantasy drafts or keep an eye on as a waiver wire add early on in the season.
For dynasty purposes, this is a solid landing spot for Pierce and he will likely see a bump in value as rookie draft data starts to come in.
