Charlie Blackmon To Lead MLB In Hits For 2021
Bet $20, Payout $460
Blackmon has been one of the better contact hitters in baseball for the last five seasons, totaling 180+ hits in four of five years (the other being last year’s shortened season). His power showed signs of decline last season with his ISO decreasing from .262 to .145 and his Barrel% falling from 8.3% to 4.9%. This means that he’ll likely have to focus on generating contact rather than power as he enters his age-35 season, which is good news for his hit total.
Blackmon is on the decline in a weaker Rockies’ lineup, but it’s worth taking a shot on this prop because of his diminishing power and ballpark context. Coors Field really helps hitters boost their average, so Blackmon will continue to have opportunities to rack up hits even as he declines in skill. We would need him to play 150+ games for this to hit, but it’s certainly possible; Blackmon eclipsed this total in 2017 and 2018.

Colorado Rockies To Win Under 63.5 Games in 2021
Bet $20, Payout $38
The Rockies are in tanking mode and look like one of the worst teams in baseball. Despite the super low number, I’m inclined to bet under the total because of how this team seems willing to trade away their talented players, having already dealt Nolan Arenado. We could also see them move veterans like German Marquez at the deadline.

On offense, the Rockies still have Blackmon and Trevor Story, but the loss of Arenado definitely makes this a weaker lineup. Veteran C.J. Cron should provide a power boost at first base, but this team will need young players like Brendan Rodgers, Garrett Hampson, Sam Hilliard and Ryan McMahon to improve. They’ll always put up runs at home, but they project as one of the weaker road lineups in MLB.
The rotation is led by Marquez, but we could see him traded as the front office tries to acquire young talent and rebuild this roster. Even if he isn’t dealt, we have seen how volatile his production can be because of Coors. The rest of the rotation is characterized by mediocrity, with Jon Gray, Kyle Freeland, Antonio Senzatela and Austin Gomber, who was acquired in the Arenado trade. The bullpen finished with a 6.77 ERA last season (29th) and they didn’t add anyone of significance. This team will struggle to win 60 games.
