This award is seemingly locked up for Jordan Clarkson as he is the best bench player for the best regular-season team thus far. Clarkson has taken a step-up as a scored with the highest field goal and three-point percentages of his career. He also happens to lead the league in free-throw percentage, albeit, on fewer than 2 attempts per game.
cant tell you the last time ive seen a greener light than 2021 Jordan Clarkson. feels like the ball is already shot before it touches his fingertips. just remarkable confidence.

His 18.3 points per game are a career-high and he has played in each game this season. Health has never been too much of an issue for Clarkson so there is no inherent risk outside of typical variance. Utah sits at 26-6 with the highest point differential in the league making it unlikely Clarkson’s traded or starting anytime soon. As long as he keeps up what he is doing, this award should have his name on it by season’s end.

Montrezl Harrell (+1600)

Montrezl Harrell is being leaned on more as a scorer with Anthony Davis (calf) injured. Over the past 9 games, Davis has missed 7 full contests. In that span, Harrell is averaging 18.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 0.9 blocks while shooting 60% from the field. He has had to take on a higher usage role but is playing a similar minutes load. The addition of Damien Jones is a mild nuisance if you want to take this bet but he and Harrell play different roles as bigs. Jones would not be taking much away from Harrell.
I’m not worried so long as Anthony Davis is ready for the long stretch.
This is the nature of this season at this point. Injuries + COVID protocols.
Get to the playoffs healthy and intact.
Save yourself the stress. They not going to be playing for HCA.#2001Again

The real bet on Harrell is a bet on Anthony Davis staying out of action for almost the entire season. Davis’s calf strain looked a LOT like an achilles tear and given that this region was sore leading up to it, the Lakers should take every precaution necessary before bringing him back to game action.
The Lakers don’t have to play for home-court advantage and are essentially locked for a playoff spot unless another major piece goes down. Harrell was signed in the offseason for a scenario just like this. He should have the 2nd-best odds but is rightfully still behind Jordan Clarkson unless the Lakers win enough in Davis’s absence without a significant bench addition. Dennis Schroder’s imminent return should help.
Chris Boucher (+1200)
Chris Boucher: 2021 6th Man of the Year Award winner (+1200)

Bet $20, Payout $260
Chris Boucher was my sleeper favorite earlier in the year, but with his plateaued performance leading to a lack of trust from the coaching staff, he is less favorable as a bet. Boucher is a talented big who has certainly “broken out” into a solid role player but his game is still fundamentally flawed as he is not always in the best place and relies too much on ability than IQ. He’s blocking about 2 shots in 23 minutes per game but that isn’t translating to elite rim protection because the two are not always correlated. However, he is not taking fouls as often as he used to.
Luckily, he is a good offensive piece who is shooting at a high level from three-point range. On 3.6 threes per game, Boucher is averaging 46.2%, an insane mark, especially for a big. Boucher is 28 but had a late start to his NBA career. There could be some room to grow even this year but it would take an injury to Jordan Clarkson for him to be in consideration as a better bet.
