2021 Angels Prop Bets: Los Angeles Futures Odds & Picks For Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani

For the 2021 MLB preseason, I’ve compiled The Game Day’s has compiled 2021 Angels Prop Bets, including Los Angeles Futures Odds & Picks. The Los Angeles Angels finished the 2020 season fourth in the American League West with a 26-34 record. Their outlook is brighter this year with a star-studded lineup, starting pitching depth, and their AL West peers taking a step back. I’ll list a few 2021 Angels Player Prop and Team Prop wagers that MLB bettors can target.

Los Angeles Angels Futures Bets: 2021 Team & Player Props

Player Props & Futures

2021 AL MVP

  • Mike Trout (+200)
  • Anthony Rendon (+1500)
  • Shohei Ohtani (+4000)

Mike Trout is deservedly the overwhelming chalk option for AL MVP. Given his short odds at (+200), however, my preference is to fade him and take advantage of the value abound created by his massive-favorite status.

Teammate Anthony Rendon is a viable option at his line, and I included Shohei Ohtani among my three favorite 2021 AL MVP bet picks. His line is unchanged, and he’s still one of my favorite wagering options.

Trout primarily hit third for the Angels last year, and Rendon often served in the cleanup role. Hitting behind Trout is advantageous for Rendon’s RBI outlook, making him a better bet to win the RBI crown next year.

The third baseman’s 157 RBIs since the start of the 2019 season is the fourth-largest total, per FanGraphs. He’s worth throwing a wager on at his long odds. Trout at +1200 to lead MLB in runs is a decent betting option, too.

Dylan Bundy To Win 2021 AL Cy Young

I featured Dylan Bundy as one of my AL Cy Young sleeper bets, and his line hasn’t moved. He has longer odds than he should following last year’s breakout.

Teammate Andrew Heaney would have been included as an honorable mention in that piece if such a section existed. The 29-year-old southpaw does an exemplary job of striking batters out (28.9 K% in 2019 and 25.1 K% last year), and his 3.84 SIERA since 2018 is markedly better than his 4.42 ERA.

Heaney’s different shortcomings from year to year provide me optimism he’s been unlucky, and the gap between his ERA and SIERA isn’t the product of a fatal flaw. Bundy’s the better AL Cy Young Award bet, but Heaney’s an enticing option, too.

The defending division champion Oakland Athletics are in their standard position of cost-cutting. They’ve downgraded at shortstop from Marcus Semien to Elvis Andrus and at closer going from Liam Hendricks to Trevor Rosenthal. Both players are capable of filling their roles adequately. However, losing key offensive contributors Robbie Grossman and Tommy La Stella to new clubs is another blow to their chances of repeating.

The Houston Astros finished with a sub-.500 record last year, and George Springer signed a long-term pact with the Toronto Blue Jays. Justin Verlander will miss the season recovering from Tommy John surgery. They’re no longer the fire-breathing giant they once were.

The Angels have a blend of established superstars in Trout and Rendon, rebound candidates in Ohtani and Justin Upton, and some depth.

Their rotation has upside featuring Bundy, Heaney, and Ohtani. Meanwhile, Jose Quintana, Alex Cobb, and Griffin Canning aren’t bereft of at least average innings-eating potential as well. They’ve also addressed the back end of their bullpen with the trade acquisition of Raisel Iglesias.

I believe the Angels will win the AL West, making them a bargain at longer odds than the Astros and A’s. They also have the upper-echelon talent to pose problems for their opposition in the playoffs, making them live underdogs that are worth a look to win the American League and the World Series.
