SNF Week 17 Prop Bets | Vikings vs Packers Props for Total TDs, Packers Team Total, & More

Last Updated: Dec 29, 2021

Sunday Night Football in Week 17 features a classic matchup between two NFC North rivals, the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. Green Bay leads the NFL with a 12-3 record behind spectacular seasons from the ageless Aaron Rodgers and his favorite target, Davante Adams.

Minnesota is 7-8 and has a very slim chance to make the playoffs, needing to win out and receive help from other teams to steal a Wild Card spot.

The dream isn’t over for the Vikings yet, so expect Dalvin Cook and Justin Jefferson to get all the work they can handle to try and pull off an upset at Lambeau Field. The Vikings will be without Adam Thielen who will miss the rest of the season after ankle surgery.

This is do or die time for the Vikings, while the Packers need to win to continue to cement their case for the #1 seed in the conference.

Let’s take an in-depth look at how this important late season battle will play out.

Please note that all NFL gameday odds and lines are current as of 1:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, December 29.

Vikings vs Packers Prop Bets: NFL Week 17 SNF Prop Betting Picks

Packers Over 26.5 Points (-133) at FoxBet

Wager: 1.5 Units

It doesn’t really matter who’s on the field on offense for Green Bay so long as Rodgers is taking the snap and Adams runs a route. A puzzling Week 1 loss to the Saints raised questions on whether the team’s “chemistry” was off after the rollercoaster offseason surrounding the team’s two playmaking superstars.

Those questions have been answered. Green Bay is just fine. The offense is averaging 33.4 points per game over their last five contests and firing on all cylinders.

Adams is second in the league in catches and third in receiving yards, trailing Jefferson by 89 yards. What was once a backfield that belonged to Aaron Jones is now a powerful tandem, due to the emergence of AJ Dillon. All is well for the Packers offense.

Not to be forgotten, five-time All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari is listed questionable for this weekend’s game. He tore his ACL on New Year’s Eve a year ago and hasn’t had the smoothest recovery process, but a potential return to protecting Rodgers’ blind side would be icing on the cake.

Minnesota has a glaring weakness in their pass defense, allowing the sixth most passing yards this year. Last time out against Green Bay, Rodgers tore them up for 385 passing yards and 4 TDs,

In that game, Green Bay scored 31 points and lost. Few players take the game as personally as Rodgers does. I expect Green Bay to come out firing and put up a big number on the scoreboard while ending their division rival’s playoff dreams.

2nd Half Total Points Over 23.5 Points (-106) at TwinSpires

Wager: 1.25 Units

The Packers aren’t the only high-powered offense in this game. Both the Vikings and Packers rank in the top half of the league in scoring. Their Week 11 final tally of 65 total points is a testament to the shootout potential these two teams hold.

Minnesota has struggled to stay healthy this year, but head into Green Bay near full strength. Dalvin Cook has been activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list although the loss of Thielen hurts.

Kirk Cousins has once again been rock-solid this season. Green Bay’s defense poses a tough matchup for any team, but Minnesota has the tools to keep up. I think both teams score multiple touchdowns in the second half while the Vikings play from behind and the Packers hold their lead.

Total Touchdowns Over 5.5 (-103) at TwinSpires

Wager: 1 Unit

Minnesota has been fairly conservative with fourth-down play calling this season, as their 18 attempts on fourth down rank in the bottom half of the league. This is not the game to settle for punts and field goals.

Minnesota must win to survive. Green Bay shouldn’t have trouble finding the end zone. Head coach Mike Zimmer should be doing everything he can to win this game, as he is squarely on the hot seat due to the Vikings’ lack of playoff success during his tenure.

An added factor that could deter both teams from kicking is this weekend’s forecast in Green Bay. With a projected high of four degrees and winds above 10 mph, kicking conditions will be far from ideal.

Both teams should opt to keep their guys hot on offense, feeding their superstar skill position players to put six on the scoreboard.

Packers Money Line and Over 46.5 Total Points (+145) at FoxBet

Wager: 0.75 Units

It makes sense to tack on this parlay in what I expect to be a high scoring game where the Packers come out on top.

In 2020, the Packers and Vikings split their season series. Both games had a final total of 50 or more points between the two teams. Look for this trend to continue, Minnesota puts up a fight but ultimately says farewell to their playoff hopes on Sunday night.
