Best NHL Bets Today April 28, 2022 | NHL Betting Picks Of The Day 4/28/22

Last Updated: Apr 28, 2022

Mike Thomsen is here with your NHL Best Bets for April 28, 2022 action.

It’s the final Thursday slate of the regular season and we have a nice nine-game schedule to choose from, giving us plenty of wagering opportunities to choose from. Here are two I’ve chosen as our NHL best bets today.

All NHL gameday odds are current as of Thursday, April 28, at 10 a.m. ET from Caesars Sportsbook.

NHL Bets 4/28/22: Florida Panthers @ Ottawa Senators

Best Bet: Senators +1.5 (-115)

Wager: 1 Unit

The Florida Panthers have to be considered one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup this season. The Panthers lead the NHL with 120 points with two games to go and pace the NHL in wins, goals, and goal differential.

That’s why I think you’ll see start to see some of their top stars sitting this one out tonight in Ottawa — the first game of a back-to-back before the Cats finish the season in Montreal Friday night.

Wednesday night, the Rangers sat stars Chris Kreider, Adam Fox, and Mika Zibanejad among others to keep them fresh for their playoff run, and I expect to see some of the Panthers’ top stars watching tonight from the press box, as well.

Ottawa has won four straight in a late-season surge, thanks in part to strong finishes from Josh Norris — the team leader in goals with 34 — and Tim Stuetzle, who is coming off a two-goal, four-point night Tuesday.

I like Ottawa to cover the puck line in this one, and they might win outright in our NHL bet of the day.

NHL Bets 4/28/22: Los Angeles Kings @ Vancouver Canucks

Best Bet: Canucks Moneyline (-140)

Wager: 1 Unit

The Los Angeles Kings have flown under the radar most of the season out West, snagging the third playoff spot in the Pacific Division from the more highly-touted Vegas Golden Knights, and their opponents tonight, the Vancouver Canucks.

The Kings don’t give up a ton of goals. As a team, they have only allowed 2.83 per game, which is the ninth-best in the NHL, and quite an impressive total for a team that ranks 21st in save percentage at .901.

The Kings are a team that wins close games and does just enough to get by, considering that they are 44-27-10 on the season, and heading to the playoffs, with just a plus-4 goal differential on the season.

Los Angeles gets a ton of rubber on the net each night, as they’re fifth in the NHL in shots per game with 34.94. Adrian Kempe has cashed in 34 of his 240 shots for goals this season to lead the team.

Vancouver changed coaches after 25 games, and had they made the move to Bruce Boudreau earlier they might have made the playoff, but the Canucks fell short of the postseason.

The Kings are on the second half of a back-to-back after winning in Seattle Wednesday night, and like the Panthers, I expect they will rest some more of their top players in anticipation of their playoff run, making the Canucks a best bet in Vancouver.
