NHL Bets of the Day 11/18/21

Calgary Flames at Buffalo Sabres, 7 p.m. ET

Best Bet: Flames Moneyline (-180) at Caesars

The Calgary Flames will head to Buffalo to take on the Sabres on the road.

The Flames are surprisingly very good on the road, having gone 6-2-2, while the Sabres are also an excellent home team, sitting at 5-2-1 on the season. This should definitely make for a good hockey game tonight.

Flames forward Elias Lindholm is having a fantastic season thus far and has been explosive over the last two games, registering three points in that span. His top line is also loaded with wingers Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk, who have also had a ton of success this season.

While those are the obvious big names, a guy that isn’t getting talked about enough is defenseman Oliver Kylington, who has had a point in ten of the last eleven games he’s played.

Calgary is above the league average with just over three goals per game, while Buffalo ranks right below them with 2.93 per game. The Flames have a nasty power play that has racked up a sixth-place 11 power play goals on the season.

One could expect Buffalo to make it challenging, which is why I am not going to advise betting on the -1.5 Calgary puck line. However, I believe Calgary wins this game behind star netminder Jacob Markstrom, who is responsible in a big way for Calgary’s second-lowest goals allowed (2.13) in the league and highest save percentage at .936.

Go with the Flames to get the road win in this one.

Winnipeg Jets at Edmonton Oilers, 9 p.m. ET

Best Bet: Oilers Moneyline (-150) at Caesars

Edmonton is coming off a loss to this same Winnipeg team just two days ago, and now the Oilers are back at home.

The Oilers could not get any sort of even-strength scoring going last game. While they have a powerhouse of a power play, which got them two goals down the stretch, they didn’t get anything else going offensively.

I don’t see that happening again for a team that averages four goals per game, much less against the same team.

Edmonton is back to breaking up Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl into separate lines to maximize scoring chances across multiple lines. The Draisaitl, Kailer Yamamoto, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins line last year was lethal, and while they couldn’t get anything going in that past game, I expect them to start to turn it on in this one.

The one concern I have is Mikko Koskinen being worn out. With Mike Smith on the shelf, the Oilers have really had to ride with Koskinen, which means he hasn’t gotten much of a break. He’s projected to go against Conner Hellebuyck once again, a matchup he lost five goals to two.

I like the Oilers in this one to bounce back against the Jets and get revenge on their earlier loss a couple of days ago.

Carolina Hurricanes at Anaheim Ducks, 10 p.m. ET

Best Bet: Ducks Moneyline (+140) at Caesars

The Hurricanes are arguably the NHL’s best team in the league, but the Anaheim Ducks are right near the top when it comes to the hottest team in the league.

The Ducks have won eight-straight games and are now one of the top teams in the league to this point. It’s a tough matchup taking on the Canes, but the Ducks find themselves at home, which will definitely help tonight.

The expected starters in net are both having phenomenal seasons, with John Gibson for the Ducks and Frederik Anderson for the Hurricanes. Gibson is averaging 2.33 GAA, while Anderson is averaging 1.77 GAA. It’s a great matchup as far as those two go.

The Hurricanes have been getting great contributions from center Sebastian Aho, defenseman Tony DeAngelo, winger Andrei Svechnikov, and center Vincent Trocheck.

However, Anaheim’s Troy Terry and veteran center Ryan Getzlaf, in addition to Cam Fowler, Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick, and Trevor Zegras, have played together as one dominant collective unit. They have truly become a force to be reckoned with.

What seems to have come out of nowhere is that Terry has 21 points on the season, including 11 goals and 10 assists. He and Gibson will be leaned on in this one.

I have the Ducks holding on for a big upset and their ninth-straight victory of the season.
