Oklahoma State vs West Virginia Predictions NCAAF Week 10 | College Football Pick of the Day

Last Updated: Nov 4, 2021

The Big 12 features a few ranked teams this late in the season, with No. 11 Oklahoma State being the second-highest ranked team in the conference. Oklahoma State enters Week 10 of the college football campaign with a 7-1 record as they prepare to face West Virginia on the road this Saturday.

With No. 4 Oklahoma on a bye week this week, Oklahoma State can attempt to gain some ground on their conference rivals. No. 14 Baylor boasts a 7-1 record as well, with Baylor set to square off with TCU on Saturday.

Will West Virginia spoil Oklahoma State’s plans of finishing the season with only one loss? Or will Oklahoma State add another win to their record come Saturday?

Keep reading below to find out my prediction for the contest and what my favorite bets are in the upcoming game between Oklahoma State and West Virginia in Week 10 of the college football season.

Oklahoma State vs. West Virginia Prediction

Oklahoma State has been able to earn a 7-1 record due to their stout defense plus an offense that has done just enough to win games. Through their first eight contests, Oklahoma State has averaged 29.4 points per game on offense while holding opponents to only 18 points per game (14th in the nation) on defense.

Spencer Sanders, a redshirt junior, has led the way at quarterback for Oklahoma State this season. Even though he doesn’t have Heisman-worthy numbers, Sanders has done a decent job with 1,341 yards and 11 touchdowns through the air. Outside of a three-interception game versus Baylor earlier this season, Sanders has taken care of the ball well.

Oklahoma State has leaned on Jaylen Warren in the ground attack, with Warren rushing for 850 yards and six touchdowns on 175 carries.

For West Virginia, quarterback Jarret Doege has completed an impressive 66.5% of his attempts, but it’s resulted in just 2,071 yards, 11 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. The team tends to rely on Leddie Brown in the running game, while also bringing in Garrett Greene at quarterback to run the ball.

I think turnovers will be key on Saturday, and I believe West Virginia will make mistakes at inopportune times, leading to easy points for Oklahoma State. That’s when Oklahoma State can begin pounding the ball and letting their running game dictate the tempo in the second half on their way to a double-digit victory.

Prediction: Oklahoma State 34, West Virginia 24

Oklahoma State vs. West Virginia Best Bets

CFB Betting Record: 3-3-0

Best Bet: Oklahoma State -3 (-110) at Unibet

Wager: 1 Unit

Oklahoma State is the superior team and should have no trouble taking care of business on the road versus a conference opponent. Besides having the better record, Oklahoma State has a quarterback in Sanders that makes fewer mistakes than Doege.

In their last nine meetings, Oklahoma State is 7-2 against the spread, and they have covered in their last three meetings. As for this season, Oklahoma State is 6-2 ATS, including a 3-0 record ATS as the road team.

With Oklahoma State capable of controlling the clock, and playing stifling defense against an offense like West Virginia, a blowout is a possibility. I’m confident laying the three points for Oklahoma State and would play it up to -4.5 points at 0.5 units.

Best Bet: Oklahoma State Moneyline (-143) at Unibet

Wager: 1 Unit

I’m fairly confident that Oklahoma State is going to defeat West Virginia on Saturday. It could turn into a defensive battle, but even then, Oklahoma State has the edge on the defensive side of the ball.

Given the unpredictability from both offenses, it’s tough to confidently bet the Over or Under on this game. Instead, I’ll just elect to place a wager on Oklahoma State to win the game outright as the visiting team.

Over these two teams’ last nine matchups, Oklahoma State has won seven of them, rushing for 164.3 yards per game. Oklahoma State has defeated them by an average of nearly six points. If the game turns out to be closer than three points, then we still give ourselves a chance to win by taking Oklahoma State’s moneyline.
