The Astros are facing elimination with their backs against the wall down 3-to-1 in the series. This has been a close series with two games decided by two runs or fewer, including each of the Braves’ last two wins.
Houston has been a resilient team throughout the year. They won their division despite losing one of their best players in George Springer. They also overcame a 2-1 deficit against the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS. Don’t count this team out just yet.
The Astros send out lefty Framber Valdez for this must-win game. He’s coming off a poor outing where he allowed five runs in two innings, but prior to that, he dominated the Red Sox for eight innings of one-run ball. I’m projecting a bounce-back from Valdez in this start.
On the other side, the Braves counter with Tucker Davidson, who is making his first appearance in the playoffs. He hasn’t pitched since a June 15th start against the Red Sox, where he allowed five runs in 2.1 innings.
While I only project Davidson to pitch two innings at most, that’s still an opportunity for the Astros’ bats to jump out to an early lead.
Look for the Astros to extend the series tonight.

World Series Game 5: Under 8.5 Runs (-110)
I also like the Under in this game because of how low-scoring this series has been. The teams have combined for 8, 9, 2, and 5 runs so far. This total seems like a high bar, even with this pitching matchup.
This is because both bullpens have been phenomenal. Braves’ relievers combined for 8.2 innings of one-run ball in Game 4. This was after they pitched four shutout innings in Game 3.
Meanwhile, Houston’s relievers have been no slouch, either. They’ve allowed only four runs in the last two games, spanning 8.1 innings.
Expect this to be another tense and low-scoring game.
