SNF Week 8 Prop Bets | Cowboys vs Vikings For Moneyline, 1st Half Spread, & More

Last Updated: Oct 29, 2021

The 5-1 Dallas Cowboys will hit the road to take on the 3-3 Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football in Week 8. Both teams are coming off bye weeks and have played well recently, with Dallas winning five straight and Minnesota taking three of its last four.

The biggest question coming into this game is the status of Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who’s questionable for Sunday’s contest with a calf strain. If he’s unable to go, backup QB Cooper Rush will start in his place.

Will Dallas be able to win with or without Prescott? Or will Kirk Cousins and co. end the Cowboys’ winning streak? Let’s explore this tasty matchup with some of our best SNF prop bets.

Please note that all NFL Week 8 odds and lines are current as of 11 AM EST on Friday, October 29.

Cowboys vs Vikings Prop Bets: NFL Week 8 Prop Betting Picks

Cowboys 1st Half Moneyline (+115) at Caesars

Wager: 1 Unit

According to our injury expert Kyle Trimble, Prescott’s injury is serious enough that he could be unavailable for Week 8. Regardless of whether he suits up, Dallas is still capable of leading at the half, which they’ve done in three of their six games this season.

Minnesota has also held three halftime leads in their six games, so something has to give. If Prescott plays, then I’m extremely confident that the Cowboys will take a lead into the locker room at halftime.

While I’ll be less confident if Prescott sits, Dallas still has enough weapons and defensive talent to win the first half. I’d expect a heavy dose of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard if Prescott is sidelined, especially with the Vikings ranking 24th in rush DVOA.

Cowboys +1 1st Half Spread (-110) at Caesars

Wager: 1 Unit

Seeing that I have the Cowboys grabbing a lead in the first half, I’m also taking Dallas +1 at the half.

We could see a Greg Zuerlein field goal be the difference between this bet cashing or not. The Cowboys are going to lean on their ground game more if Prescott sits, especially since they have one of the league’s best running-back tandems in Elliott and Pollard.

Those two can help Dallas drive down the field and control the clock, keeping the ball out of Minnesota’s hands. And if the Cowboys’ defense can force another turnover — which they’ve already done 15 times this season — then they’ll be well-positioned to be up at halftime and cash our NFL bet of the day.

Cowboys Moneyline (+120) at Caesars

Wager: 0.5 Units

We’ll need to see whether Prescott plays before determining which side to take on certain bets. While I’m confident the Cowboys can grab a lead in the first half, I’m less confident they can hold it without Prescott.

That being said, I do like getting plus-odds on the Cowboys from our NFL gameday odds, especially since the odds will likely flip if Prescott is cleared to play. The last thing I’d want to do is place a ton of confidence in Cousins to deliver in a primetime game as the expected favorite.

Dallas has enough offensive firepower with Elliott, Pollard, CeeDee Lamb, Amari Cooper, and Dalton Schultz to make it a game regardless of who’s under center. Their defense is also tied for the third-most takeaways in the NFL, which could give the Cowboys an easy score or two as well.

While we’ll have to wait for clarification on Prescott’s status before locking in our bets, I’m backing Dallas as road dogs in Week 8.
