Kwity Paye NFL Outlook
Paye should be a rotational player early in his career and quickly become a starting base defensive end in a 4-3 or strongside outside linebacker in a 3-4. If he can continue to improve his hand-fighting skills and footwork, he has the chance to be a high-level starter early in his career. If those skills don’t improve, Paye will likely be just a run-and-chase edge player who wins with athleticism and effort. However, those traits are still good enough to allow him to be a productive player in the NFL in the meantime.
Kwity Paye NFL Comp
NFL Comp: Brandon Graham
Paye’s listed height is 6-foot-4, but he looks much shorter on tape. However, he’s got a strong base and his quickness and agility remind us of Brandon Graham of the Philadelphia Eagles. Like Paye, Graham is a former Michigan Wolverine who has been one of the league’s most underrated pass rushers in the NFL for the last decade. While he’s never been a double-digit sack player, Graham can consistently get pressure on the quarterback and is a reliable run defender. Paye has the type of potential and maybe an even higher ceiling if he can develop one or two go-to pass-rushing moves.
Kwity Paye NFL Team Fits
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Minnesota Vikings
- New England Patriots
- Arizona Cardinals
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Miami Dolphins
- New York Jets
- Pittsburgh Steelers
Any team that needs a pass rusher will be interested in Paye. His combination of size and athleticism will be intriguing to so many teams. However, the best fit for Paye would be with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a potential replacement for Bud Dupree. Not only can he play in space, but he can hold up against the run and does his best work against tight ends and running backs. The Steelers love their Michigan players and Paye could be the next great 3-4 outside linebacker in Pittsburgh.
Kwity Paye NFL Draft Prediction
Round 1: Paye doesn’t have the overall sack production that you would like to see from a first-round pick, but he certainly has the athletic traits. Add on the fact that he’s from a big school and has improved each year and it’s not hard to see why the NFL will fall in love with him.
