NHL Bets of the Day 10/22/21
Best Bet: Sharks +1.5 (-140) at BetMGM
Wager: 2 units
Despite the San Jose Sharks coming off of a back-to-back, I’m backing them against the spread. They will be playing a solid Toronto Maple Leafs squad which will make things tough, but the Sharks have gotten off to an absolutely excellent start. They beat the Jets 4-3 to open the season, shut out the Canadiens 5-0, and then beat the Senators 2-1 last night.
The Maple Leafs have gotten Auston Matthews back and he has been their primary source of offense, so this game should be interesting. The Sharks might not win outright, but I like them to cover the spread.

Best Bet: Sharks/Maple Leafs Under 6.5 (-110) at BetMGM
Wager: 2 units
Across the Sharks’ three games, they have only gone Over once when they won 4-3 for seven total goals on opening night. The Maple Leafs have averaged a combined 3.75 goals vs. their opponents so far through four games. That’s not a lot of scoring at all.
I like the Under here quite a bit with both goalies playing well to this point in the season.
Best Bet: Sabres +1.5 (-155) at BetMGM
Wager: 1 unit
The Sabres have been playing great hockey, starting 2-0-1 with an overtime win over the Coyotes. They played extremely well against teams they should have, both the Canadiens and Canucks.
The Bruins looked great defensively in their first game of the season behind rookie goalie Jeremy Swayman, but that shifted entirely in their second game. They were beaten by the Flyers by a score of 6-3 with Swayman allowing five of those goals on just 24 chances. That is a recipe for disaster. Back the Sabres ATS with the idea that they could take it to a rookie goalie.
